Lost 114 lbs. working on getting rid of a recent 10 lb regain...and WILL succeed!
I am walking my neighborhood. My driveway has a hill so I do alot of walking. I also am doing resistance bands and we have some hand weights I have been using as well. I have already gone from a 5x to a 3x and I am so looking forward to being able to buy clothes without a X in them :)
I am not comfortable going to a gym yet but it won't be long :) I have several friends who do Zumba so I might try going soon.
You are right. 1 pound down is a start. Try making it 2 this week. Did you read the label to know how much carbs, fat and protein are in your new snack? Keep working at it. Mag
Your new pics are wonderful. You are doing great!!! Keep up the good work. Mag
Hello Jeannine,
so glad you have started your journey. LOL I know what you mean about that gas!! It really hepls to walk, it relieves alot of that gas. Dulcolax is one of my best friends. I use the stool softner 2 x a day (in the morning and again after dinner) and I use the laxitive a least once a week) Once you can eat a regular diet it's not as bad.
By the way Welcome to the losers bench!!

Hello Teresa,
40 lbs in 6 weeks!!!! that is amazing!! I am 4 months out and have lost 51 lbs. So please do not be discouraged at 40 lbs. what kind of exerises are you doing? It could be you need to change your exercise routine. I found that helped me. In the beginning I only did the elipticals it was easier for me do to my size and only walking the treadmill. But I changed the routine into interval training. If you do the treadmill trying adding an incline, that burns more calories. If you are just walking around your neighborhood thats ok, but find a hill and walk up and down that hill. If you are going to a gym start weights. You will not see results overnight but I bet within a couple weeks you will find your clothes are looser etc.
You also need to get FAT out of your head. You cannot let yourself think like that. Think," I have lost 40 lbs in 6 weeks!!! I bet I can lose 10 lbs this month." Do not think in big numbers. Think small then be pleasantly surprised if you lose more. Negative thinking will only bring you down and you will not be as motivated as you would otherwise would be. I have lost 51 lbs in 4 months. That is not a big number. But guess what, I have gone from a size 24 to a size 14. How many people can say that?? that is my motivator. You need to find out what yours is. May be you can say if I lose 10 lbs this month I will go out and buy me 3 bright, cheerful blouses. (not sure about you, but all my fat clothese were dark, the bright colors will cheer you up)
Hang in there, the weight loss will come!!!

I haven't posted in a while but I do come in a 2-3 times aweek and read the posts. Lots of new people here now, that's great!! Welcome Everybody!! this is a great site and it helped me tremendously in the beginning.
So I am now 4 months out. Surgery for me was 1/17/11. I have lost a total of 51 lbs since my surgery. I am losing weight at a slower rate now. I have to get back into the swing of things. This month I haven't made it to the gym as much as I would have liked. My kids are very involved in sports and since my husband is legally blind I am the only driver in the family. So my exercise has been lacking. Also last week I came down with a terrible cold though that helped me to lose 2 lbs cause all I did was drink cold water to help my scratchy throat, I don't think I have ever drank 6-8 bottles of water like I did for 2 days straight last week. I guess now I know why they say drink, drink, drink.
As I have mentioned before even though I haven't lost as much weight as most people have in the same time frame I have lost so many inches of my body. I lost 51 lbs but it looks like so much more. I started at a size 24. I am now at a size 14. YAY!!!!
When I do work out (which I will get back to this week, I have to find rides for my kids activities) I jog at the treadmill. It felt so good to start running again, I have never been a fan of running. I used to be in the Navy and I never cared for running then either. But when you become physically unable to do it because of your size, it feels wonderful to be able to do it again its a great accomplishment and I always push myself to run atleast 30 seconds longer than the last time. I do intervals, Walk 5 min incline 5 min run 5 min. This works for me very well. I also do the weight circuit which I honestly believe is what has helped me loose all the inches of my body. The cardio helps me loose the weight, treadmill, bikes, elliptical. But the weights takes the inches off.
So those of you that have started this journey. Don't feel discouraged at what you believe is a slow weight loss. It will come. But remember that you also have to work at it. Exercise along with this surgery is a MUST!!. You have to watch what you eat, drink, drink drink and exercise, exercise, exercise.( When I am on track I go to the gym every other day for about 2 hours).)
