Arianne,

I'm sorry to be behind on posting; by the time you read this you will already have had your surgery!  Just wanted to let you know that I am thinking of you, saying a prayer, and tell you that nerves are normal and you will do great!

I'm not positive but I don't think the VSG bypasses any of the intestines which is what causes malabsorbtion.  There is a forum here on ObesityHelp that deals just with VSG.  Of course, we love to see you post here as well.

I had RNY and take medications for bipolar disorder, anxiety attacks, depression and ADD.  I have not had any problems with those meds, although my pain medications do not seem to work as well as they did pre-op.

Good luck!

I can only echo what Kathy and the others have suggested.  Try changing things up a bit.  I just read on article that suggested the way to get out of a stall or plateau is to eat something "forbidden."  The theory is that something high fat or high carb will jump start your metabolism.  Not sure if it would work but the way they described it, it sounded like it would.   I read the article on the internet and couldn't find it again to provide the link.

Anyway, good luck and I hope you break through this stall soon.  You have lost a great deal of weight and are close to your goal.  Don't give up!

Topic: Checking in
Hello to all and I hope everyone had a great Memorial Day weekend!

WOW!  Lots of new people have joined our group.  I hope they jump in and start posting.

I got on the scale this morning and couldn't believe it.  After almost 3 weeks of eating high fat, high carb junk food, I have gained a whole whopping 1.6 pounds.  It's almost not worth it.  I am thinking of just learning to live with this overly skinny body.  Eating too much has made me sick on a couple of occassions and that wasn't pleasant.   I have to go buy some clothes today; the summer stuff I bought  is all too big right now.  I got 2 pair of capris in a medium that I am swimming in.  I guess I'm going to have to switch to a small.  It's very hard to get my brain to wrap around the idea of fitting into a small.

We are having cement work done in the back driveway and a new floor in the garage.  They started with demolition at about 7 AM this morning, which was way too early.  I hope they don't take two weeks to get this job done.  They are lifting up the garage by two inches for the new floor.

I was grocery shopping the other day and came across a new product to try.  Atkins has come out with a high protein (20 gms per serving) low carb version of Bisquick.  I can't wait to try the pancakes.  I am always on the lookout for a way to get in protein as I still can't handle the taste of the shakes.  Hopefully it won't be too awful tasting; it was $10 a bag.  As soon as I give it a go, I'll let you all know how it was.

Well that's all for me; I hope you all have a great day!

Have you documented a food log lately. Check with your dietician. Time to increase your protein, change up your activity and add another glass of liquid to your day. Stalls happen, changing something helps. Hope the stall breaks asap Amanda.

Great to hear that you have fellow VSG to share with. I had RNY, loving the results to this point too. Ask any and all quistions. There are no off topic things. Research and dicide with your surgeon what is best for you.
