Congrats on a date! We did not have to do liquid diet before our surgery. But did after we were out of the hospital. You will need to find some you really like, I started with a few little single packages and so liquid and that is still the combination I like too use. I bought a couple of good tasting protein powders at our max muscle ( a body builders shop) but you can get some at Walmart too.
You can do it, you will do what ever it takes to feel better and get healthy

Hi Jenn,
When I had my surgery, we used sugar free carnation
instant breakfast 6X a day. I drank a lot of water,
tea. Also, I drank chicken and beef broth which
helped for when I wanted something that wasn't sweet.
Hope this helps. How exciting about your surgery coming
up!!!

finally have a scheduled surgery date. it is may 31st. i won't know the time until the day before unfortunately. i am meeting with the nurse at the weight loss office on monday to get the information about the 10 day liquid protein diet and will also pick up the protein powder then. a little worried about that diet and the diet after the surgery but i'm sure everything will work out. any suggestions on how to tolerate the liquid protein diet from anyone who has done it?
thanks

Topic: RE: vitamins
I had the open rny on March 13, 2012 and the Celebrate brand is suppose to have the best vitamin values. I take the grape chewable multivitamin and also the iron as well. I tried the multi in the pineapple strawberry and I didn't care for that, it left an after taste, but the grape isn't bad. I'm actually thinking about order from the site when I need more. The other plus is that they have a 90-day supply available.
Topic: RE: now back after long time away and surgery is pending
Hi Jenn,
I don't think you "Need" some one with you after surgery, however if you want so company or help sometimes it is nice for a loved one to be with you - if you need something, or need to go anywhere a driver is great. My husband did not sleep in bed for the 1st couple of nights, but I did get in bed the first night at home. the harder part was getting back out of bed in the morning or if you need to go potty durring the night.
my Husband was working the week after surgery from home and back at work in 2 weeks, I was off work for 2 weeks, and worked 1/2days for a week and then returned to full time duties. I don't have to walk much in my job and no lifting for me. so I think it can be done, I was just very tired.
Plain Whey is available at natural grocers stores. I used it in tea, and added it to some other foods.
welcome to the losing side very soon

Topic: vitamins
i am looking for some advice regarding vitamins. my surgery will be the standard gastric bypass done the end of may or beginning of june. i have found a website called celebrate vitamins and they specialize in vitamins for those that have gone through gastric bypass. i have never priced vitamins before and was wondering what others are doing? my surgeon recommends a multi-vitamin, b-12, calcium, iron and zinc. i can get all of the vitamins through celebrate vitamins except zinc. i also have an aversion to swallowing pills. it is very difficult for me and all the vitamins through celebrate vitamins are chewable which is what i need. the price for a multi-vitamin, b-12, calcium, and iron is $120 every three months with free shipping. is that a good price or is that way too high? i honestly haven't really looked anywhere else except bariatric advantage and they were a little higher. thanks for all the advice.

Hi Jenn,
Thanks for the welcome, I would be happy to be your support the first bit is tough, right after surgery and it gets better from there.
I have been neglecting my crafting for a while, but am ready to dive back into it soon.

Hi I'm Tamara aka queue_t (cutie)
I had RNY at the end of February , I am doing well however would like a support system :-) my husband also had RNY in feb 8 days ahead of me. He is a support but I think he gets more from me than I from him.
I live in Colorado, I like outdoor activities and I like to craft and scrapbook. I read extensively and love to have friends in my life. I like movies, I am not a huge tv watcher. I am a bit of a geek, and I love a geek.
Thanks for letting me join you
