Best of luck in working with the PNP and getting things straightened out and getting you feeling better. Changes can b scarey, but sometimes necessary and good. I hope you aren't facing that, but if you are, I hope you feel better than ever!

You are welcome for the "new perspective" on the visit with your surgeon. I love your idea for the excel list. If you are a list person, that will be a wonderful tool for you! Remember we must always be pushing ourselves just a bit outside of our comfort zone. That is when we grow, change, progress....all the good stuff comes from the growing pains. I know you can do this!

Hi again,

I forgot to say I saw the PNP today again. We talked a long time. He had no patients waiting for him. He raised my Lamictal by 50mg for a total of 300mg and my Triavil by 25/2 for a total of 75/6. He left my Effexor at 400mg. He said that if I'm not better when I see him in 10 days we may have to do some major changes. Scary thought.

Thanks, Patrece, for a new way to look at the doctor's visit. I bet that is what he was doing. One of his comments was that another patient of his had lost a good amount of weight just like me and when she came back for her 9 month check-up she had only lost 5 more pounds. He ask if that was what was going to happen to me. No, of course not. Are you going to follow the plan? yes, I will.

I decided that I am going to make myself a list. I love lists. I will make an excel program with all my daily requirements and what time they need to be done. That way I can print it out and "X" the one that I am doing at that time. It will help since I've been having so much trouble staying focused on what I'm supposed to be doing. I'm not going to get O/C about it. I know that appointments and life in general changes day by day, but this way I can look at the list and see what comes next.

Everyone have a good sleep.
Talk tomorrow after I get organized.          Mag

Hi Diana,

I have had back and knee issues for a long time. When I first started my weight loss journey I used a walker inside and out of the house. Walking to the car was a real struggle. I couldn't stand up but a minute or 2 myself. My doctor (not surgeon, but ENT) sent me for PT. It helped so much I feel that I'm at a place where I can work on it at the exercise room at our social center.   I don't know about tonight but I'll PM you with some of the stuff they started me out on. All of it sitting early on. They were fabulous to me and for me.    Mag

Hi Gilda,

I don't know if I've met you yet. Congrats on your pregnancy. Hope all continues to go well for you. Sounds like you have a nice job. I'd like to find a part-time job, but I have no skills. LOL.  Take good care of yourself,  Mag

Hi Shannon,

Welcome to our group. It's nice to meet you. I'm glad you are feeling good about your weight loss journey. My sister at 63 can still wear her high school prom dress. I know what you mean about having a skinny sister.

It's summertime so many people are out and about enjoying activities. We all stop in here when we can. We also have a chat on Monday nights. I love to gab about things in real time. You should receive an email on Mondays as a reminder. I'm Pacific time and the chat is at 4PM here. I think that's 7PM Eastern.

Please call me stupid, but what does "SAHM" stand for? Where is your hubby stationed if you don't mind me asking. My brother just retired from the Air Force a couple of years ago. He saw action in every "military action" since Vietnam. They told him he would sit out this Iraq action, but they lied I'm afraid. He said they worked 12 hour shifts 7 days a week. When he had his work done he would give the men under him a helping hand. He retired after arriving back in the states.
I personally was very glad as was my elderly Mom. Sorry. I've rambled on.
I sleep with a machine, too. I've had it since 1997. We are good friends now and I find it very difficult to fall asleep with out it. As young as you are you should have a good chance of ending up without it. Please keep using it. It will help so much after surgery. You'll feel better rested and have more energy once you are use to it.

Keep us posted about your weight loss journey or anything else you are thinking about. The people here are wonderful. They are a wealth of information and support.  Take care,   Mag

Hello all, my name is Crystal. I am a 37yr old disabled mom with three teenagers and a husband who works out of town a lot. I have severe rheumatoid arthritis and I am waiting on the insurance approval for the sleeve at this time. A friend introduced me to this site. The support and answers to questions are awesome here. I have been having really rough days due to severe pain and getting blue waiting on the insurance.  Since being diagnosed with severe depression, which had a lot to do with my weight & self image and the RA dx I have gained 90lbs from all the meds. Anyone else have the sleeve because of the side effects of medicine?  How do you prep yourself for surgery, I heard about a liquid diet but what is usually the length we do that? Are there any out there that regret has the surgery? and why? I am so excited I can't think of anything else anymore. Did anyone get so anxious that they couldn't sleep while waiting? Well, I think that's all the questions I can think of right now. It is nice to be involved in a support group that doesn't judge or ridicule others. Wishing all well.

Mag...hugs to you. Your surgeon is playing the tough love role with you because he wants to see you succeed in this. My surgeon would do the same with me. Thats one thing I love about him. He accepts no excuses from me. I can come up with them all day, but he is right, I have to manage my wls journey, no matter what I am facing. I have a feeling this is what is going on with your surgeon. If he thinks you aren't progressing as well as you should and didn't try to push you forward, he wouldn't really care about you, so don't take it personal. See our reasons are excuses to them, because they know we will face a lifetime of challenges that will get in our way if we let them. They want us to stick with the program no matter what. And we should because we went through far too much not to. We deserve this success! Take those small steps girl, and keep moving in the right direction. Up the protein and water and get in some extra walking or something, and you'll get that 8 lbs off. You are only 6 months out, you can do it with the right balance! It will help when your depression is more in control, but if you begin to see more progress, it may help spur you out of that too.
No this isn't easy, but you are so worth it lady! Let us help you along!
Hugs and love to you.

By the way, I think your weight loss rate has been awesome!

Hello to my special ladies,

I'm very tired so not going to post much. I am so proud of you all. I know we are all being success stories. I agree with Patrece that any step we make towards following our plan is great.

Amalia, Have you measured to see if you are losing inches? Maybe that is what's going on.

Where to start. Still manic but not as wildly so. Saw my PNP today. He raised my Lamictal and Triavil and wants to see me once a wee****il we get me to my stable place.

Saw my surgeon yesterday. That is why I didn't post. I was too upset about the visit. I thought he would be pleased with my major improvements. Even though I have lost more weight in 5 and 1/2 months than I thought possible, he was unhappy that I had such a small loss over the last 6 weeks. I tried to tell him about the problems I have faced and his reply was, "I don't want excuses, I want progress." He wants me to lose 8 pounds in the next 2 weeks. Yikes!!!! That's a tall order. I told him the Bi-Polar was very difficult to deal with right now. He said," You should have expected that." I told my sis that he needs to go home and play kissy-face with his wife. I was sooooo upset about it yesterday. Today I have a much better attitude. He has been wonderful, kind and helpful since the first time I met him. Must of been an overwhelmingly bad day for him. I will move forward as best I can. Of course I have blood work to get drawn, but I'll worry about that tomorrow. (Gone with the Wind)

Hugs and best to all.   Mag

Topic: Exercise for those with knee and back problems
Hi, all,  I haven't posted for a couple weeks but, I've been checking in.  Hi to all the newbies!

I have knee and back problems which limit my mobility.  I am starting to become extremely sedentary because I can't walk but several feet and standing for any more than a few minutes is just short of impossible.  I want to get some exercise in and have been considering a recumbent bike because of the support it give my back as well as being able to get some cardio without the weight on my knees.  Have any of you tried one?  Have you any recommendations?  I appreciate any feedback you may have.

Thanks for being out there and with me!

Diana
I hope you dance with enthusiasm... and a million other things joyful!
