Topic: RE: Challenge...NOT for everyone!
Hello,

I am a new member.  I had my surgery 8/8/2011 so I am 6 weeks post op.  I have lost 14 pounds since my surgery and I am feeling alittle fustrated.  I thought I would have lost more my now and I wanted to ask what the average weight loss per week is for everyone.  I did not lose weight at all last week.

I did start back to yoga this week.

Please help.

Thank you

Welcome to the group Lance.  Looking forward to reading more posts as you adventure into RNY post op.  I had RNY 2 years ago and love the results. The 27th will be here before you know it.

Let's lose together.  Kathy

Topic: RE: Have your tastes changed after surgery?
Hi Diana, I still like many of the things I liked before surgery.  I do crave the proteins and like to have a variety of things.  I found that I could not get enough green leafy salads this summer.  Just made sure that I added protein and cheese to the salad.  I am just over 2 years out from RNY, wasn't able to tolerate as wide a variety of foods early out from surgery.

I still go to the buffet with my hubby, most of the foods offered do not appeal.  I can make an amazing protein/salad combo from the salad bar and be satisfied.  I just eat slowly and chew well while my hubby gets what he wants in a couple of trips to the buffet.  In don't worry about the cost, just enjoy the company.  For my craving for chinese food, I do a take out box from the local china buffet, I can get what I need and only spend 2-4$ instead of the full buffet price.  Dennis does not care for chinese and perfers to not eat there.

Don't think that we go out often, I really perfer to cook at home and know what is in my food.  I use a salad size plate and do not fill it.  I know what my pouch will tolerate.  Stop when you are satisfied, not when you feel 'full', or 20 minutes later SUFFERING...

Colleen, long time no post is right.  Glad to have you back and don't you disappear for so long.  You are among us veterans of wls, still young veterans, but with the knowledge of having been there, done that.

So sorry about your struggles, send the tasting bad bug my way, just for a few weeks to keep me from nibbling away at things.  Where did the summer go, zip and if is feeling like fall.  I do love fall best.  The mugginess and heatwaves a thing of the past.  If I had my wish, fall would last 4-6 months, 2 weeks of winter and then head into spring.  But, living here in northern MN, I know better.

My summer has been busy, finding more time this fall to craft a little and dream of quilts I want to make.  You do belong here with us and I look forward to your posts.  Hugs

Welcome to the group David.  Looking forward to hearing more of your life.  I too used food to avoid things in life.  I had RNY 2 years ago and wish that I had had the courage to inquire about wls 20+ years ago.  Life is anew, to be lived.

Stay safe yourself.  Where are you at in the wls process, post op?  Which surgery will/did you choose?  Kathy

You have to dig deep down within yourself and remember how you felt when you were first jumping the hoops to do this and got your YES for surgery. Get back in touch with how excited and hopeful you were. Recommit to all of those promises you made to yourself and your surgeon. This is a setback, but it doesn't have to be permanant. I went back to school and regained what ended up being 17 lbs. It has taken me 5 months but am only 2 lbs from where I was before that regain. Mostly due to eating very "clean", as i put it. Get back to the basics and find some seated activity you can do. Then find ways to occupy your time and mind. YOU CAN DO THIS and you do deserve it!
