Welcome to all the new bariatric buddy members.  Last week I intended to catch up with everything here, and life happened again.  Surprise, surprise.  I have been concerned about my hubby, he has been having trouble with blood in his urine.  ER visit one day, urology visit twice, planned to do a cystoscopy during the second visit, but the bloody urine returned and he was sent home with a catheter for the weekend.  This stopped any planned weekend events for us.  So far good test results.  Negative PSA and negative cytology of urine.  The bleeding has stopped again and we look forward to final answers on tuesday.  Right now the urologist is leaning toward a leaking blood vessel in the prostate.  Praying that that is the answer.  Oh the joys of getting a little older, lol.  The catheter is supposed to help the bleeding stop, so far, so good.

How are you doing?  Getting in your protein?  Fluids?  Supplements and vitamins?  Exercise?  I am doing my best.  We are enjoying a nice late fall, still getting into the lower 70's during the day here in northern MN.  I am looking forward to chatting with everyone this evening.  Here is the usual chat reminder.

Bariatric buddy chat session is this evening. Come one, come all. Time for sharing and caring for each other.   We start at 7pm eastern, 6pm central, 5pm mountain and 4pm pacific. Entrance shortcut is http://www.obesityhelp.com/group/bariatricbuddy/chat/ .   You may need to update your JAVA if having trouble getting into the chat room. Keep trying. Chat usually lasts about an hour. Any questions, send a PM to KathyB4me, here at OH.

Topic: Back home in AZ
Good morning all,

There is much to be grateful here in AZ today. Our cold weather has moved out and today is to be about 90 degrees. Wonderful fall weather has returned. Air conditioner has been off since I arrived home. May need it later today when the sun hits the living room.

So much to say about my vacation. Most of it was wonderful. Seeing my friends was a treat. Even the memorial for Judy was upbeat and saw friends I hadn't seen for quite awhile. We went out later to hear a local band. The drummer was incredible. Wish I was talented like that. I haven't played the piano or guitar for a long time. Of course, meeting Monica and Carla face to face was great. Too bad my friend was so rude to them. She was in a foul mood. Put a damper on the experience. Went to Disney World and Universal. That was fun but hot and humid.  Next we saw my friend's relatives. Spent 4 hours with them. Made me even sadder that I didn't get to spend quality time with my friends. That night our motel was on the ocean. We were on the 4th floor and had a panoramic view. The pool was salt water. Had trouble keeping my feet on the bottom when doing my exercises. We tried walking along the shore, but I didn't get too far due to my knee. We sat outdoors and watched the moon rise over the ocean. It was blood red at first. Never saw it before. We sat there until midnight just enjoying the peaceful and relaxing ocean sounds.

Next we drove up to my brother's in South Carolina. It was a terrific time but way too short. Jane and I went to the Goodwill and found lots of slacks. She even hemmed them for me. She cooked all the meals to be WLS friendly. It tasted so good to have a home cooked meal after so many days on the road. We also went to a musical that was put on by a local group. It was very funny and we had a great time.  We were in the front row.
Next was the Biltmore Estate. It was beautiful. I want to go back to do some of the activities that we missed.
Well enough for now. I have 2 appointments tomorrow. Have plenty of things to do here today.    Take care,   Mag

It's been a couple of weeks since your post. I hope things are moving right along for you. The biggest part for me was making that decision to have WLS.

Jenn,

Don't give up!  You are so empowered to take over your life and the life you want.  I am surprised to hear that if you have sleep apena you would have to wait due to treatments.  I suppose each insurance/surgeon is different.  I have my sleep study this coming Thursday and I asked, "Will my surgery be postponed if I have sleep apthena?"  The doctor said, "No, because you leave with the equipment right from the office and you would take it to surgery with you."  I was relieved to hear that.  I am now waiting for the the insurance to approve my surgery.  I do not understand why the insurance has he hem and haw over the decision, as there has been studies done that show that biatric surgery cures type 2 diabetes, hypertention, high bllod pressure, high cholestrol, obsity, and who knows what else it can help cure as they are still conducting test.  I bet it will also prolong your life and give you years back to be with your family and enjoy the rest of your life.

Let's keep in touch.  My fears right now is that the insurance will deny me for the surgery.  The insurance wanted 5 yrs of weight being overweight, dietician/nutrition class.  I should know by Thursday, Oct 13 at the earliest.

This will happen for you, I am sure, you are so determined just as I am.

Take Care,
Deb
