While I have visited this site almost daily for the past several moths I did not become a member until today. I just wanted to be able to share my story with others as well as get any and all advise and information possible from others who have been in my situation. On Oct. 18th, I had Gastric Plication surgery, done by Dr. Brian Gluck in Muskegon,Michigan. This is a newer surgery here in the United States and Dr. Gluck is one of the few who can preform it. Since my surgery I have had zero problems, concerns or complications of any kind! I am on the phase III step of the diet (soft foods). I will be on this diet phase for another 3 weeks. If anyone is looking for information on this surgery option please feel free to contact me at: [email protected].

I'm new here but not new to WLS.  I got a lapband in 2001 as soon as they were approved by the FDA.  My band served me well for about 8 years but then being "a woman of a certain age" I began to go through the change and became Hypothyroid at the same time.  I had some band difficulites that are partly my fault, but I won't go into that now.  Friday of this week I am having a conversion to RNY.  I am excited, nervous and a bit scared.  Mostly I'm scared that I'll start "feeling that I'm normal" and go back to my eating habits.  I'm trying to connect with as much support as I can because I'm determined to be changed this time and lose the weight for good, but also change my eating habits for good.  thanks for listening!  I'll let you know how it goes when I get home this weekend!  Joyce

Thanks Marcia,  do you have any suggestions of some shakes, etc.  The Unflavored Unjury definitely changes the tast of things and not for the better.  I have tried the Jay Robb brand and they are pretty tastey.  That was a recommendation from this site.  Anyhow, I am looking forward to the journey!  Thanks again!

Yea the shakes get tough to take sometimes, but we need our protein maybe you can split them up into small managable amounts to drink at a time.  Or find a new drink mix or shake.  And it's normal for everyone to have buyer's remorse shortly after surgery it will pass when you feel better and start losing :)

Topic: Just had RNY on 11/15
Hi Everyone.  My journey has begun.  I had RNY on 11/15 with Dr Hill in Saranac Lake NY.  I came home on Thursday and was feeling great.  Today is a down day :(  I have felt nauseous all day yesterday (for the first time since surgery) and am wondering what I have done to myself.  The nine days prior to surgery with just the shakes were fine, they tasted good and I was satisfied.  Now ugh just thinking about drinking another shake makes me sick.  Just looking for any post op advice.  Thanks
