Topic: I had my surgery
Well I finally had my surgery, was supposed to have it done on Nov 10th but my surgeon had to cancel due to family emergency, so it was rescheduled for Dec 1st.. I wish I could say it has all been smooth sailing but it has not.. :(  The Roux-eny went great, but while he was in there he found I had two hernias , one umbilical and one by the esophogus, he fixed them up while he was doing my bypass. I was feeling pretty good after the surgery and was thinking it was really going to be an easy recovery until...... dam dam dam... I ruptured the umbilical hernia while coughing and had to be taken back to surgery on the 2nd to fix that. Now its been constant pain, broken IVs from my small veins, cannot hardly move, still in the hospital blah blah blah... blood pressure too high, oxygen too low, and on and on... they are talking about finally sending me home today, I really really want that however not sure what I will do once I get there because I cannot even pull my own underwear up ugh!!  I do have to say that my blood sugars since surgery have been great, no higher then 130 and thats with no insulin or diabetic meds at all, today it was only 107 AFTER breakfast so I think the diabites is nearly gone WOOOHOOO!! Also cannot believe that having such a tiny bit of food fills me up and I almost never even think about eating, usually the kitchen brings up my meal and I am not even aware that I havent eaten yet and have no hunger, thats a first for me LOL!! Just thought I would give an update, sure hope I get to go home today and start this journey for real on my own...

Topic: The economy sucks!!! TYTYTY for the motivation though
didnt wanna go to the gym when I got off from work this morning. pysched myself to drive straight home. Drove past my apt and still thought of turning around. After I got so far, I'm thinking " there's no way I am turning around now and wasting gas with it costing so much. THANK you ECONOMY for sucking ATM. 30minutes on the elliptical half at a normal pace and the other a little faster. I did sprints to get my heartrate up higher. It was a struggle, but I made it to the gym and finished my goal of 30minutes 5-6 days a week this week. YEAH. Now looking forward to Sunday off from exercise, not work.

Lunch is  gonna be a pork rib with fat trimmed off and some snap peas steamed.  Dinner is going to be a salad with turkey, zucchini, tomato, diced turkey breast (leftovers) and spring mix.  Then high protein snacks.  Since I worked last ngith and slept all day, my day has a late start to it, but it will normalize since I work again over night tonight and sunday night.

Feeling good today though.  Minus the suffiness from the dry heat.  I forgot to turn on my humidifier or atleast forgot to fill it with water.

I can't do the thick one's either. I use Nectar, they come in several flavors. So far I've liked every one and the ones i"m not all crazy about mix well with my crystal light!  Good luck to you!

 Thanks, Shannon,

right now, I'm one week and one day out and not doing too bad.  Actually my surgeon repaired my hiatal hernia which caused a bit more discomfort that the regular surgery has.  I think I'm doing well.  I'm managing my purees and keeping a full drink of flavored water by my side at all times.  I'm not great at navigating this site, but if you'd like to keep in touch feel free to email [email protected].  I'm trying to be a model RNY pt because after this I never want to have surgery again!  LOL!  Good luck to you!

Thanks,
Joyce

Topic: RE: New
hi and welcome.  This pretty much is a place to ask questions and see what others are posting.  So feel free to jump in.  They do have a live chat session on Monday nights, which they will email you a reminder here on OH every monday.  Just click the link and it will take u where u need to go.

There's nothing to print saying u attended a meeting though.  This is just an oppurtunity for u to talk in chat with others in real time.

Hope this helps.  Message Kathy B. or Patrece S. if you need more info, they are the leaders of the group and one or both of them attend the weekly meeting here.

Congratulations.  You look great!  I look forward to the date that I reach my goal.  I have a ways to go, since my surgery was in November.  Michelle.

Welcome Juan.  I am pretty new as well.  I had my surgery on 11/10/11.  I have lost 28 lbs so far.  I get frustrated sometimes with the slow weight loss, but at least I am going down.  Congrats on your surgery date.  Michelle.
