Topic: RE: 5th UPDATE!!!
Hi Juan,
You are doing great. It was good that you and the nutritionist were able to figure out what the problem was. I was shocked to find out that I was not eating enough back when I was a few months post-op. I had to laugh. I never thought anyone would have to tell me to eat more. Keep up the good work.

Topic: 5th UPDATE!!!
Well, Well, Well...
It has been a while since I posted an update and I apologize for that.
Since my last update, I've met with my nutritionist and when I told her that I was stuck at 290 -293lbs for almost 2 weeks, we evaluated my calorie intake and found that I was getting in 500-700 calories daily. My metabolism just started to slow down to reserve its energy and therefore had me at a stable weight.
Since then, I have increased my calorie intake to about 1100 calories per day and I am now down to 285lbs... (THAT'S ANOTHER GOAL KNOCKED OUT OF COMMISSION).
Softball season starts soon and I've been practicing like an insane man where people tell me "Dude, Relax! Its only softball." I am just that excited and yesterday, my team practiced for 6 hours at 40degree temperatures. So much for being a recreational team.
Next update should hopefully show me at 281lbs or hopefully lower.

Topic: RE: Welcome!
Hello,
My name is Vicky. I am investigating WLS. Only way I successfully lost weight in the past was through diet pills. I tried Nutrisystem last year lost 20 pounds and then gained 30. At my heaviest now at the age of 54 with a bmi of 46. I started my 6 months pre op with a weight gain. My primary care is great but has no personal experience with weight issues. It was hard for her to see my weight gain. I needed more help so I made an appointment to see a nurse practitioner with expedience helping those seeking wls to set and achieve goals. I have been lurking in the back ground of this website for a few weeks reading and exploring various topics. Thanks to all of you for sharing your challenges and celebrations, as well as, all that goes into making such a difficult decision. I needed read it all. I needed to hear the pros and cons from individuals who had similar stories. I needed to take a realistic view of my situation and the options. I was dead set against anything but lap band but now I am going into to this with with an open but skeptical mindset so that I am able to make a lifestyle change so that I can be healthy.

Topic: RE: Feeling nervous and scared
Hi There,
It's very usual to be nervous and afraid before most surgeries. I agree with Doug that prayer is very helpful. Remind yourself why you are doing this. My surgery was 1 year and 3 weeks ago. I've gone from a 5X to an 18 to 20. I use to be so sick and tired. Now I walk a mile a day (5X's a week.) It's a new, beautiful life for me. I would do it again in a heartbeat. It must be difficult to see your sister recovering. Like Doug said we are all different. We recover differently.
Take a deep breath. Talk to someone you trust to stand with you on this new journey. You alone can decide if this is for you. There is pain. There are changes. But the pain goes away. The changes become routine. And for me, the new person I've become is here to stay. Mag P.S. I'm still losing.

If your a praying person...it works. It worked for me also just to keep telling yourself everyone is different and that "I;ll be OK...this is what I;m determined to do". You can do it
I had mine may 13Th and have lost many pounds and feel great now.
