Here's my question, I'm planning on seeing my Dr for my consult soon I hope, and before I go, I would like feedback if possible...here's my question.." Why did you choose the weight loss surgery you chose?" I would like to hear your reasons, just curious as to which direction to head to research. Any help would be great !!
I am almost 2 months post surgery but I am still feeling sick when I eat I stop myself before i get over full but then my tummy just feels like i am going to get sick, I sure can't drink anything after I eat either they say wait at least 30 min but i seem to have to wait even longer or I will get sick. October 14th I am allowed to start eating whatever i want but is this sick feeling always going to be there?

That's really great info. I am in the beginning process as well. I just had my 1st consultation made today. I am also stuck between the sleeve and RNY. I was told my insurance may not cover the sleeve so we have to wait and see when it comes down to the approval. But I have been leaning more towards the RNY.
Hi Karen
I have actually been going through the process for the sleeve and was just changed to bypass. I had my heart and mind set on the sleeve but that changed after I had a manometry test. I would highly recommend having a this test (which tests your swallowing ability). My surgeon ordered and that was the deciding factor. Apparently I cannot swallow effectively enough to avoid reflux if I were to have the sleeve because the sleeve creates a higher pressure environment than normal and swallowing is a big factor. So I have to switch to bypass. Everyone I have asked on here seems to agree they are one in the same when it comes to the end result. I was surprised to learn that in bypass the stomach is NOT removed but in the sleeve it is. Bottom line is go with whichever is best for you healthwise and which long term will have less issues.
Just my two cents. Good luck with either one.
I'm considering weight loss surgery. I'm just starting the process with my first appt. I am trying to decide between gastric sleeve and gastric bypass. Can anyone help with advice or their experiences? I'd appreciate it!
Congrats! My surgery is going to be first week of August. Do you have any tips for me?
I had my VSG on April 9th, 2014 and I'm down 43lbs so far. Yay me! But I'm definitely concerned about losing my focus as time goes by, so I thought perhaps joining a group would help boost my motivation. Does anyone have any tips for how to handle all the summer cookouts and parties? So far I've been surviving by bringing my own food, but it seems everything there is either grilled to the point of being way too dry to handle, carb loaded, or sugary. I don't want to be a party pooper, but I don't even really want to be AROUND that stuff.
Great to hear the surgery is working great for you PhoenixMedusa...I've lost 35 pounds already after my surgery in December as well...you've lost 38 pounds, it means I'm on the right track LOL!
