Topic: RE: 15 Months Post Op
Hi Amanda,
Our surgery dates are close - I'm at about the same stage you are. My goal was to lose 102 lbs, putting me at 178 and in the "overweight" catagory instead of obese. I got down to 184 and have pretty much stayed around there for the last few months. When my weight starts to creep up, I get back to lots of protein, protein first, and stay away from simple carbs like crackers and chips. I know I need to exercise more and that if I really made the effort to cut back and add extra exercise, I might be able to lose the rest.
On the other hand, it's fairly easy to maintin where I am now. I don't want to work really hard to get there and then just turn around and gain it back. But I worry about the dreaded "bounce back" that occurs and think- well maybe I should get down lower before that happens so the regain stops at a lower level?!
I don't know- part of me want s to get there, the other part is just thrilled to maintain where I'm at. After a lifetime of failed diets and regain, maintaining this loss seems like a huge accmplishment!
You've done fantastic so far! Do you have any ideas about what's causing your problem now? Are you eating to little protein, eating more slider foods, not getting your water in? Or are you following all the rules but your body has quit responding? It's so easy to let snacky food creep back in and start the scale going up. I definitely have to stay on quard with myself. I AM A FOOD ADDICT! I always have been and always will be. I have a RNY stomach, but an addicts brain- that is my challenge to deal with, and I am, one day at a time. You can do this to. You have come so far and accomplished so much. Don't get discouraged and give up, you've worked much to hard to get to this point.
What is your typical day like as far as food? Give us some info so we can help you figure out what is going on!
Hugs,
Rhonda

Hi Mag-
Thanks for the encouragement and words of advice. I am feeling much better now. Just didn't realize how much I had bottled up. Tomorrow is the big day and I am ready!
Worked my last night shift last night and am looking forward to finishing up things around the house today to be ready when I get home. My parents are coming up today to take care of my kids and help me when I get home.
I will keep you all updated on how I am doing!
