Rooting for your health Colleen. Happy to report that I didn't gain while away for a few days. The scale reports no gain or loss during my roadtrip. I am thrilled about the no gain. Working on the losing, one day at a time. Offer still stands for adipose transplant, lol. Willing donor here. Hugs

Tim, the dietician wants to see you making positive changes in your eating. Putting the ice cream bar back into the freezer was superb. I applaud you.
Do your best to follow the dieticians advice. They are rooting for you. Most importantly, do not let yourself down. These are changes for the best health for each and every one of us.

I went to the informational seminar in Feb and had my surgery in Sept. Insurance required 6 months of supervised weight loss and dietician consults. Pretty typical. Then the psych eval, they want to make sure that you are in the right state of mind and can follow the plan set out with your surgical team. Ask any and all questions. I am glad I went through the 6 month dietician before surgery. Opened my eyes to changes that I could start making right away.
I now have my cpap settings at half of the pressure from before surgery and am off my insulin for my diabetes. Yayyyyy wls.

Being a nurse does not give one all the answers either. Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers too. Let us know what the biopsy results are. That grouping of smptoms goes with a few things, follow MD directions, they know best. Prayers and Hugs.

Welcome to the group. Looking forward to reading many posts and sharing this adventure with you.
Use this 6 months to start any habits that will be your lifestyle after surgery. I found it hardest to stop drinking liquids 30 minutes before a meal and wait 30 minutes after a meal for more liquids. But it can be done. This is so much easier after surgery.
Whick surgery are you investigating? What is your first name? I am Kathy. Had RNY sept of 2009. Loving the results to this point. Ask any and all questions. We will do our best to assist. Hugs

Thanks for the input, Colleen. That is hopeful information. I submitted my paperwork/application yesterday and received a call that they would be reviewing my case today; that I should know by Friday if I'm accepted. If so, then I should find out pretty quickly how long it will take me.
On another note, congratulations on your progress! This site and the people on it is a constant source of reinforcement, validation, and hope.

It only took me about 8 weeks from start to finish. But it is all going to depend on your insurance and your surgeon. I have heard of people who were approved for the surgery, went ahead with all of the tests and then the insurance company backed out of their decision at the last minute. That is rare but I do know of at least 2 people that this has happened to.
I hope your process is short and sweet like mine was. Good luck.

I'm sorry, I'm not a nurse and can't answer your question. I just wanted to let you know that I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers that this turns out to be nothing.
Good luck and please let us know how you are doing.

Topic: Gonna get healthy!
Hi everyone - this is my first post on OH! I am very new to the WLS world and have only attended a seminar so far. I made my consultation appointment for June 10th and then I have an orientation to my physician's office's 12 week program on the 17th. Unfortunately my insurance company makes me go the whole 6 months until they'll pay for surgery but I'm hoping it will go fast!
Anyway, I'll be around and reading up as much as I can....thanks in advance for any advice or knowledge that you share!
