I'm new to this group, so I thought I'd say hello.
I'm presurgery - still have to have and endoscopy, cardiac eval, and pulmanary eval before the surgeon will send out for insurance approval. I think I'm more nervous about that, than about the surgery. I'd like to have the surgery before my health deteriorates further, and I've seen big changes in the last year.
But the doctor and the entire practice has been very supportive through the start of this journey, so I'll have to see how it works out. In the meantime, the meetings with the nutritionist have been helping get my diet in order, and I've begun walking and working in the garden again.
I'm just ahead of you. Made my decision to evaluate it, then made all the appointments with the surgeons office, then all the tests. You'll be amazed how much you didn't know about yourself. Although I go to my primary care doctor, the full set of tests highlighted low blood oxygen, deficiency in vitamins, etc.
The scariest part for me is the insurance process. I'm a 35-40 BMI, so I don't know if my co-morbidities are "bad enough"

Glad you are home. Please remember to walk, walk, walk and sip, sip, sip. Very important as you know.
Just remember that Saturdays at an ED are awful. You might be there for a long, long time. Didn't the on call surgery give you ANY advice about it? Last thing you need is an infection.

I also am a little concerned about one of my puncture sites, that has gotten larger and pink, kinda warm to the touch, with a distinct white rim around it. We called the surgeon on call but they were no help. I haven't been running a fever and have felt pretty good, up until the diahrrhea last night.
We may head to the ED tonight just to have it looked at. I don't need a wound infection or peritonitis starting.
Anyway...I am alive and well! Thanks for all your encouragement and support! One day at a time....Sweet Jesus!
