Hi Charlene,
I'm a bit confused. Was your surgery 4/13/10 or 4/13/11? It said one in your message and another under your picture.  If it is only 2 months since your surgery you are doing great. Think of it! 45 pounds! That's incredible.
The great part about this group is there is so much information and encouragement here. We are all buddies, mentors, friends, etc. We can not always be available as one person, but there is someone who will answer your post with just the right info or a much needed encouraging word.. Who knows, it may be the start of a life long friendship. We are all here for you.     Mag

Hi, Kathy!  Wow!  Your day is coming up quickly and I am confident that you will bounce into this next step with ease.  You are doing so well!  I can relate to what you said re China.  I went to Singapore for 3 weeks on business and stayed in a hotel during that time.  That was in 2002.  At that time I weighed 275.  I was alone (no friends or familiar colleagues), too. and felt very out of place.  (The movie with Bill Murray, "Lost in Translation" was so on the nose and I found that, if you haven't lived that experience, you really don't understand the movie or the experience.)  Anyway, I didn't know what to expect with food; was working the 11pm to 7am shift, slept during the day, and was really eating only one full meal a day with small snacks the rest of the time.  I lost 15 pounds in 3 weeks.  I didn't even realize I was losing weight.  I was totally amazed and dumbfounded when I returned home.  The only indication I was losing was that my clothes were looser and I thought that was because I was hand washing my clothes so the dryer wasn't shrinking them.  It's funny what we tell ourselves, isn't it? Of course, I've gained it all back and then some.  I'm glad to hear you are back to journaling, now. Keep up the steps in the journey!  I'm hanging with you... Warm regards,
Diana

Thanks, Kathy.  I will be calling my insurance today to see what I can see.  I'll accept whatever they say... ok for now or in 6 months.  I know I have to have the WLS and if it means I need 6 months records and, as you say, time to practice, then that's what I'll do.  I feel my co-mobidity issues worsen as time goes on so, I am concerned about the potential of 6 more months.  I'm amazed at how quickly I have gotten worse over the last year.  However, I am closer to a healthier me and the 6 months, if that's what it will be, will be heading in the right direction.  Thanks again for your support!  My best to you... Diana

Well it is Thursday morning. I am down another 2 lbs this morning! WOOO HOO...thats 3 lbs down since i started trying to be more watchful of things on Monday when we began the challenge. I am sure part of that is water weight, but even that needs to come off if it is excess fluids.

I am going to grab my cooler and stop at the store on my way to denver to get healthy stuff to take for Candice and I. As well as some water and crystal light. Don't want to get off track with things if I can help it.

I will try to check in tonight.
Hugs to you all and best of luck in another good wls day!

You are doing great! keep up the good work! If you get bored with the salad, try other green veggies like spinach, brocolli, etc. Must get a variety or we will quickly burn out on this.
Thanks for your well wishes for Braxten. Hang in and fight the carb monster again today with success!

Sounds like you are doing great with this! I needed the accountability too. Many  wls folks do. Thinking we need to extend this challenge. Maybe even have a chatroom meeting once a week on it?
I too HAVE to have my coffee. I gave up pepsi, sweets, fried stuff...but NOT coffee. Have to have something, and coffee is it I guess. Beats turning to alcohol huh? LOL.

I am getting ready to hit the shower, the bank and head to Denver. You are so right. Family is most important and love overcomes all else. With Candice and Braxten is where I need to be today.

HI all, just wanted to share as my date is coming up soon, June 27.  I officially started this journey (okay years ago but for real now) in January and made some progress.  I work in China most of the time and went back for the first time "on the plan" in March...and was scared that I would gain gain gain as was restarting a business, living in temp housing, got out of recording what i eat, ate out a lot due to the temp housing etc.  I tried to focus on veggies but as time went on I started to snack at night (the big loneliness bucket) and go off a bit....I returned to the US a few days ago and weighed myself and was so excited - lost 2 pounds!!!! I am so encouraged it gave me the boost to recommit to the food diary which should be pretty easy soon since it will be water, protein drink, water, liquid vitamin, . Getting a bit nervous on the surgery date but can't wait!  My surgeon's diet plan is 3 weeks liquid and then start on soft food which seems quick but hopefully not too difficult.  Quote of the week is "anything that flakes" on the food front. Will be looking for recipes.
Take care all,
Kathy

Congratulations on your acceptance adn taking this step for your health!!  I am sorry about the co-morbidities and disability but in a way they have helped on this step and should also help on the insurance acceptance.  Not sure if you received yet  but I am confident you will! All insurance co's are different so can only comment on how mine was - not bad once they have the data they need.  My surgeon's office helped a lot with that process and they have it down in terms of what to provide, etc. My insurance co required to have 6 mos of reports from my doctor on efforts to lose weight/ make lifestyle changes in addition to the surgeon's report (whi*****ludes all the history of dieting etc.) and medical data.  Easy to complete if you are taking steps and I did not mind the 6 months as has given me time to practice better habits and think about what to do after / plan ahead.  It is not a quick fix  - a journey as you know.  Good for you for making yourself a priority!!! All the best,
Kathy
