I totally understand about not being able to afford the surgery. You look like a very hard worker and a determined person. Just keep your head up and everything will come around. I can understand not having enough time in one day. If you have any days off, you can see if you can get you a lil counseling. But if you can't this forum can help you a little. I love this website. If I need to vent, I can.
I have been married for almost 13 yrs, and our marriage hasn't always been  perfect. But I do know from pass relationships, how break ups can be. Before I met my husband I was in a 5yr relationship. I had met this guy when I was about 16yrs old. It was a CRAZY relationship and when we broke up (I just had to leave him alone), it was VERY HARD. He was very controlling (hope i spelled that right). He was verbally abusive, etc. One time he told me, NO ONE WILL WANT YOU, YOU ARE TOO FAT!!! So you just need to stay with me. The messed up thing was I BELIEVED him, SMDH!! Now, I don't regret the relationship, because it taught me my self worth. He didn't deserve me at all. If a man can't respect you and love you for WHO you are, and have your back thru WHATEVER you are going thru. Then he doesn't DESERVE YOU...

Girl, I don't need to lose 100lbs to have my breast to  look like a 60yrs old. My girls have always lived in the south, LMAO!!!  Now they are shrinking, that going to be HARD. My hubby understands both of our bodies will change and I think he will be alright. Now me dealing might be another story, because I haven't got there yet. If you ever need to vent or just need some support, I will listen...

Take Care and  be Strong...

I'm still new to the VSG.  I am 5 weeks out post op.  I start on real foods tomorrow.  Meaning I can have chicken, turkey, fish as well as vegies.  Your Dr. will give you a guide to follow.  Eventually you will be able to eat regular good foods.  My guide shows that I can have red meat at six months.  Just always check with your Dr.  I had my surgery on June 6th 2011.  I have been really lucky because I haven't had any problems at all.  No nausea no cramps.  All the foods I have tried have agreed with me.

Good luck with your surgery and keep us all informed.  Don't forget to ask questions questions questions.  Make sure you feel comfortable with all the answers before your surgery.

Hello everyone,

My question isn't regarding right after surgery but further down the road.  My surgery (VSG) is scheduled this Wednesday the 13th and I am starting to worry about eating like I am (during liquid diet) for the rest of my life :(  I enjoy food but obviously can eat more than needed hence the weight issues but will you be able to eat regular foods after you get past the healing and regular foods as in Steak or Asparagus? things like that something you chew not drink.

Hi everyone, my name is Laurie and today is the last day of my "old life".

Tomorrow I plan on calling my doctor and beginning the journey of WLS.

Six years ago, I went through all this, lost 30 lbs in preparation of surgery, had a psych exam, went to support groups, talked to a surgeon, etc and then I had an accident.  I fell down a flight of 14 stairs and became a broken mess at the bottom.  The doctors said the only thing that saved my life was the fact that I was morbidly obese.  It protected me from being more injured than I was.

Some of my injuries were:  I completely ripped the entire right side of my face off, lost my nose, lost my right cheekbone, destroyed my right periorbital eye socket, broke my right arm and wrist so badly that I needed my arm shortened by 2 inches, numerous back and rib injuries and on and on.

The RNY was put on the back burner indefinitely and of course was the last thing on my mind.  Many, many surgeries (7 surgeries alone to put my face back together), and 6 years later & seeing how great my daughter looks after her having RNY last year, (She's lost 177 lbs), I'm now thinking its time to have my own done.

Lots of things have changed for me though.  I no longer live in NY where I was going to have my RNY.  I live in TN, in a rural area.  I don't have the support I would have had in NY, although my husband is my biggest champion, my Prince Charming!  I'm 6 years older, in alot of pain due to the injuries from my accident. I have Type 2 diabetes and am now on insulin that I haven't been able to get under complete control since my accident.

So, for the last week, I have been doing research of doctors in my area and hospitals.  Mentally and physically I'm so ready for this!

I'm really looking for support and I can be supportive of others as well.

Thanks Lynn,

I have look at the cost of plastic surgery and can not afford it. My insurance does not pick up plastic surgery so I would have to come out of pocket for the anything I would like to have done. I hope to be making more money after I graduate but now it is not even a possibility.  I have been thinking about some counseling to help me navigate the new me just have to work in the time with school and work I don't have much of that. I put things in prospective pretty well I just had a little bit of a shake up with this break up thing. I think break ups make all people a little introspective and sad.

Good luck on your weight loss journey having a therapist I think is really good. I wish my medical plan would have supported that. When you have lost over 100lbs and your breast look like a 60 year old your gonna run to the arms of a plastic surgeon lol. I can laugh at it but it makes you feel less womanly when the girls go south and shrink.

Thank you Kathy. Well my hubby doesn't belong to OH. He has me to ask questions an such. You know men sometimes, lol. But Im really PROUD of him. It is really nice to have him as my support, but sometimes I feel like Im by myself. Like he really doesn't want to hear about somethings. But anyway, Thanks again for the WELCOME. Hugs to you too...
