Topic: RE: Did anyone else get cold feet right before the surgery?
I got cold feet the day of surgery lol. Right before my surgeon came in to get me, I got this panicky feeling to rip my IV out of my hand and run out to make a dash for the nearest pizza parlor in my hospital gown. I had my mom there with me, and she reminded me to remember why I'm doing all of this. and that was enough for me. I did my sleeve for many reasons I suppose, but the most important for my son. I wasn't going to live to be much of a mom for him if I had a stroke or something and couldn't move much. My life wasn't a life anymore. It was death walking. I didn't want to leave my son to fend for himself in this world.. life isn't the same without your mother. That pushed me and gave me strength where I did not have it.
Just breathe and it's going to be ok. Nothing is going to beat the awesome feeling of having your life back. And the discomfort is a temporary thing.

Hi Crystal,
There is nothing I can say except jump right in, feet first into the cold water. It's worth it. You did the research. You made it to the finish line. You are going to join us on the losing bench. Good for you!! My prayers and blessings for a safe and pleasant hospital stay. Just remember the reasons that kept you through the hoops, remember everyone that loves you and is cheering you on. Us included.

Hi! I just wanted to introduce myself :)
I had a gastric bypass last February and lost a total of 140 pounds. I have never felt so great; however, things have taken a turn so I am looking for some much needed support. I did so well when the hunger was gone and honestly thought I had made permanent changes. Then the hunger returned and a lot of the same old behaviors are creeping back. I am making steps to ensure that I don't regain the weight and I realize now more than ever that this is a battle that I will always face. I am just going to take it one day at a time. I look foward to the resource that this group can be and hope I can give some others insight from my experience!

I'm getting really nervous about tomorrow. How much pain is usually involved with the sleeve? I'm sorry I sound like a wimp, I am always really nervous before surgery. Are there any encouranging words or something that I can memorize to keep saying like a mantra to help relax? I know I am doing this for the right reasons of getting healthy and being active again but I am doubting myself now. Asking for prayers please.
Thanks,
crystal
Thanks,

Welcome to the group Danyelle! Congratulations on the awesome progress so far. The first few months after surgery are exhausting but day by day you get more energy. Best of luck to you!

Topic: Hello
Hi! I'm Danyelle and had gastric bypass on May 31, 2011. My husband and I have been married for almost 20 years and we have three great teenagers....well, most of the time they're great. I tried for too many years to lose weight and after much prayer and discussion decided bariatric surgery was my best option. When I started the journey, I weighed 267 lbs and today I'm down to 220. I am still struggling with fatigue and getting enough protein but it's getting better. With work, a family and too many commitments, I don't have a lot of time to be online, but will drop in when I can. Thanks for the support y'all have already given me!

I only lost 10 lbs but that was because I had full liquid diet a week before surgery. Keep following your doctors plan and you should be fine. :) My doctor never told me I HAD to lose weight before surgery he said the diet was to shrink the liver before surgery so that it isn't in the way makes the surgery even more safe. Good luck to you and if you are follwong doctors orders try not to worry. You should be fine, but if you are worried give them a call and ask (no questions are dumb questions when it comes to this.) Take care and let me know how you do :)

Hey Stephen! I agree with the head hunger. I'm loving not eating much right now but know later I'll miss having sweets and such. I am taking it day by day and not looking ahead too far. Thanks for the encouragement!!
