Hello, welcome to the group.  Need help navigating, I can try to help.  Congrats on making the decision to improve your health and have wls.  I had the RNY, the sleeve was not an option where I had my surgery, at the time I had surgery.  Love the results I have.  I also have friends that have had the sleeve and love their results too.

I have type 2 diabetes, sleep apnea, high cholesterol, PCOS, arthritis among other ails I will not list.  I took my last insulin dose nearly 2 years ago, the day before my surgery.  Loving getting by on oral diabetic meds.  My knees are thrilled that there is less of me to cart about.  My dogs like that we go for longer walks.

Do lots of research, reading and consult with your surgeon.  Know that in the end you will get what is best for you.  I would pick wls again in a heartbeat.  Keep reading and researching.

Topic: Not getting enough PROTEIN!!!
I am not getting enough protein I think that is why I am losing sooooo sssssllllloooowwwww!!! I really don't like protein drinks. I haven't tried Muscle Milk but I was concerned that they were not the proper type of protein!  I want to add a shake or 2 to my schedule but I just can't stomach them. I can do CIB and SlimFast shakes but I don't know it the SlimFast High Protein is right either! AHHHH!!!   I am going insane please give me ideas for getting more protein!!!

What's worth the PRIZE is ALWAYS worth the FIGHT!

Hi, Kristi, and welcome to the group.  This is a great group; very supportive and encouraging and real.  I've not yet had surgery but I'm on the way there.  I hope to join you very soon on the loser's bench.  Kathy gave good advice... ditto from me.  Here's to your journey .
I hope you dance with enthusiasm... and a million other things joyful!

Hello everybody...I am new to the site still learning how to navigate.  I am still deciding on what surgery I am going to pursue.  I have the same store as many of you, I have been the "big girl" all my life.  At least that was what I was told.  The reality is that I was just thick but once I started trying to lose weight on my own the yo-yo began and now I really am obese getting bigger and bigger.

I don't have any co-morbids except my doctor has warned me that diabetes is knocking on more door and the last 2 years I have been plagued with back pain/ spasms...I guess I do have co-morbids. No high blood pressure and my cholesterol level is great.

I am 42 years old and my youngest child is 4 years old and I plan to see her get her master degree and get married!

I had decided on the RNY but now I find myself thinking about the sleeve...You all tell me what you think?

Still Deciding....

Hello, my name is Jessica Rhodes-Touchet. I live in Northeast Georgia (about an hour north of Atlanta). I am happily married to my husband, Nathis who is from New Orleans. I have 2 boys (13 & 16) from my previous marriage & I have a 9 year old girl with my husband. I was crushed in a motor vehicle accident 13 years ago & I've had 14 operations just to be able to walk. I am a stay at home mom for the 1st time in my life, not sure I like it yet! lol I sell Scentsy, which is AWESOME!!

I am pre-op. Hope to have my surgery in November. Thought this over for 2 years & finally decided to do it! I am just getting started, but I'm watching what I eat, slowly changing my habits & exercising daily. My only vice that I am anxious about giving up is Coca Cola. I literally HAVE to have a coke a day & I feel there is nothing better than an ice cold coca cola! I'm not having any real issues about giving up any foods, just my coke!! That will be really hard, but I AM dedicated to doing this!! Any questions, just ask!!

Welcome to the group Kristi, congrats on getting to the loser's bench.  Do your best to follow the plan set out by your surgeon.  Getting the fluids and pro ten in gets easier with time.

I am almost 2 years out from RNY myself.  My surgery anniversary is later this week.  Don't know where the last 2 years have slipped to.  Let's be loser's together.

Hey everyone!! I am Kristi and I am located in the Kansas City area. I had my surgery on 8/23/11...1 week post-op!! I am feeling halfway normal today, lol, but still have no real appetite. I have to force myself to get some protein down. I am so excited to be on the other side of surgery and meet people that have gone through the same journey.
