Topic: Getting back in the Groove!!!!!!!!!
I am so stressed out.   Don't know whay to trun.  I have got to get this problem in check.  I have started to gain some of my weight back.   I don't want to do this.  I have just about to give up , but that is not me.  I have to go back to the basics.   I started this support group.  we have been meeting every 3  rd thursday in the month, but noone seems to car if they come or not.  It seems like I am fighting a no win battle.  So sorry , but i have to vent what i feel.  I am 2 1/2 years post-op.   I have just gained 10 pounds.   I so much don't want to gain my weight back.    So sorry i haven't been here in along time.   I miss you all.  Hope all is doing well. Thanks for letting me vent. annielou176

 Hi Kim,

Hang in there and try not to be so hard on yourself.  If your mind is set, then you can do it.  Just keep thinking about the future without so much weight.  Since getting my surgery date I have been loosing without changing too much.  Keep trying, it will happen!

Thanks so much for your response, Kathy!  That's the type of feedback I was looking for....the personal experiences and insights of others always helps with decision making.

I hadn't thought of making a list of pros and cons so will do that and review everything with my Dr. when I have the schedulling appointment with him.

Thanks so much, Linda

Hello All!

I'm new to the site and looking forward to getting to know you and becoming part of the community. My surgery is scheduled for December 14th and I start my milk diet on November 21st. I hope the time flies, but in the meantime, I'd love to hear from anyone who wants to chat about pre-op preparations and/or general support topics.

Thanks,
Amber

Hi Ann.

I'm new to this site also and too hope that it will be a great resource and provide the opportunity to gain some support before, during and after surgery.

I didn't have to go through the insurance channels either and it took me about 8 or 9 weeks to schedule surgery. The steps I had to follow:
1. Attend an information session
2. Fill out application (allow for it to be processed)
3. Take a Psych evaluation (the results took two weeks)
4. Meet with the Psych to go over results
5. Meet with a Physician, Nutritionist and dietician - 5 hr appointment
6. Meet with Surgeon
7. Attend a pre-op/post-op nutrition class
8. 3 weeks of a milk diet
9. Surgery
I'm counting down the days to surgery at this point. I could have scheduled my surgery for 3 weeks after meeting my surgeon (after the length of the milk diet) but I needed an additional month to save the rest of the money. My surgery date is scheduled for December 14th.

I hope this helps in some way!!!

Hang in there!!  This is an important part of your process to a better life!  Prior to surgery, you need to lose weight to reduce your liver size.  This will make surgery easier for the doctor.  It will also gear you up mentally and physically for the journey ahead.  Take your time and make minor changes.  I began with switiching brown rice for white rice, whole grain or whole wheat pasta for pasta, sweet potatoes for white potatoes.  I eliminated bread.  This will only help you in the long run.  Stop!  Don't be frustrated!!!!!  It will get better and you will lose!!!

I hope this helps!

Peace and Love,
