now back after long time away and surgery is pending
Well, I have re-surfaced after being away for quite a bit. my surgery has been approved through the insurance company after a second psych eval. long story about that. i am now waiting for the authorization to be sent to my surgeon's office so that i can schedule the surgery. i'm figuring surgery to be the end of may or the beginning of june. i don't have to do a lot of lifting at work (basically stand at a register and take orders and take money) so i'm not sure how long i will have to be off work. hopefully only for two weeks or so. i'm actually hoping it will be a week and a half. i live alone and was wondering if i should make plans for someone to be with me for a few days after the surgery or is it okay to be alone? will i be able to lay down in my bed and sleep or will i need to try and find a recliner from someone to borrow so that i can sit up and sleep? i finished the nutrition classes back in november and feel like i have forgotten so much information. i'm re-reading the handouts but i have asked for a meeting with the nutritionist at the weight loss clinic that i'm willing to pay for but i feel like it will make me feel better about the food choices i will have to make. this has been a long year of waiting, evals and classes. also any suggestions about where to find non-flavored protein powder?

Hi Jenn,
I don't think you "Need" some one with you after surgery, however if you want so company or help sometimes it is nice for a loved one to be with you - if you need something, or need to go anywhere a driver is great. My husband did not sleep in bed for the 1st couple of nights, but I did get in bed the first night at home. the harder part was getting back out of bed in the morning or if you need to go potty durring the night.
my Husband was working the week after surgery from home and back at work in 2 weeks, I was off work for 2 weeks, and worked 1/2days for a week and then returned to full time duties. I don't have to walk much in my job and no lifting for me. so I think it can be done, I was just very tired.
Plain Whey is available at natural grocers stores. I used it in tea, and added it to some other foods.
welcome to the losing side very soon
