Bariatric Buddy
Hello, it's been a long time.,
Hello to all the Bariatric Buddy's and especially to Kathy B and Patrece. It's been a very long time since I've posted anything and thought it would be good to check in.
It's hard to believe that I am coming up on 3 years post op already. I am at my original goal weight of 145 but at one point had been down to 113 and that was way too skinny. The diet the doctor put me on was designed for cancer patients; basically anything with fat, sugar or whatever to gain weight. I stopped taking all supplements, including protein and now I need to get back to reality and do what is best for me. I lost an alarming amount of hair that is just now finally starting to grow back. It was so thin and wispy that I ended up getting it cut and then got a body perm, just so I wouldn't look bald. I had my plastics done in March '10 and got deathly ill after the surgery. Everything I put in my mouth, including water tasted like dirt or like it was spoiled food. Between that and the skin they took from the abdominoplasty and having my arms done is how I lost so much weight beyond my goal. It took me an entire year to recover from the plastics. Please don't let my story put you off I had a lot done. I had the tummy-tuck, arms done, breast lift and implants and on top of all that they discovered when they went in for the abdominoplasty that the mesh from a hernia repair I had done several months before got entangled with my navel and there was a "sack of goo" as the doctor called it attached to it. They couldn't save it, so now I don't have a belly button. Oh well, one less place to wash in the shower! LOL! I originally planned on also having my thighs done, but probably won't. I just had surgery two weeks ago to correct the right breast implant and have a lump removed from the left side. That was benign.
Other than that, life is as usual. I am still unable to work and actually have a couple of new diagnoses to add to the list. I miss this group and all the wonderful folks here.
Kathy, I can't believe you haven't posted a new picture.I hope you are doing well.
Patrece, I hope your new life is everything you hope for.
I'll try my best to check in more often.

Hi Colleen,
Have missed you. We old timers need to help out the newbies here. Patrece and Kathy are soooo busy that they really need our help.
I'm glad your hair is finally growing back in. I'm about to shave mine and buy a good wig.
Just below is a post from a lady (JUNE) that has lost way to much weight. I told her a short summary about your weight and said she should friend you. I hope you can give her helpful information. I'm sure you can.
So glad to see your post. Too many missing in action.
As ever, Mag

Great to see your post Colleen. I do need a new pic. Just had to renew my driver's lisence, what a difference. I will see what I can do about updating my pic. Yes, life is busy, way too many hours at work most weeks. I enjoyed a weekend off this weekend. Got out for a dog walk each day, the critters are lovin' it. Mowed the lawn for the first time this spring too.
