Wow I am feeling better after bypass on 10/13, lost 35 pounds, but gained wings under my arms and my boobs just keep getting lower.

Any advice?  Or is this just the way it is.  Thank goodness it's winter so I can wear long sleeves.

Hi Laurie,

I'm one year out and I know what you are talking about. My doctor said working out at the gym is going to help with toning and building muscles. He said that if I'm faithful to do the exercise, I will see improvement for the first year. I have lost so much (there was a lot of me to lose) that I know that plastic surgery will be in my future. That's okay. My health and life is so much better that I'll take my wings and become an angel.

Good luck with your journey. Keep us posted.   Mag

Thanks Mag.  Did he recommend any specific exercises?  Sounds like you have had tremendous success so far.

Hi Laurie,

lol. I will just say that before long, your boobs will look like socks hanging from your chest. Its terrible but true. I am sure somewhere along the line I will have to do something about that. In my experience of this weight lose. That is something I will not be able to fix w/o surgery.

I found that doing weights helped for me for the sagging .I have a bit in my thights, but I think once I get back to the gym I can tighten them up some more so it won't be so bad. The same for my upper arms.

Good Luck

Sam

Thanks Sam.  Made me laugh with your great description.  I was already so heavy and large breasted before the surgery.  I was actually considering Breast reduction but was advised to do the gastric bypass first.  Seems I got good advice.  I'll have to shorten up my "socks" later.

Thanks again.

Laurie,

yes its a good thing you waited for after WLS to have your reduction done. You will find big changes are coming.  I was never big breasted but being heavy made it look like I had something. I have gone from a 38C to a 34C.

I have to get my wedding and engagement rings re-sized b/c they are huge and I have gone from size 8 shoe to a size 7.

Well clothes.... I had to get rid of EVERYTHING!!!! I am down to a size 6 and loving it. Still shopping to replace all the clothes I had to get rid off. Its hard b/****pt losing weight. I am trying to hold steady with the size 6. I do not want to lose anymore weight. But with every season change I need different stuff. Everything I wore last summer will not fit this summer. I buy all my slacks and pants from the goodwill store. I have been lucky and have found all of them with tags still on them so whoever donated them never wore them.  Tops I am buying from the clearance racks. I have a great selection b/c I now wear size small. There is alot of small stuff.

Its all worth it.!! but exercise and weights are a must!! Good luck.!

Sam

Hi Laurie, welcome to the loser's bench, congrats on your great loss.

Wear your wings with pride, you are losing weight at a rate never done before in your life.  I have my wings too, when I walk quickly at work, they get a flappin and continue to make noise after I stop walking, lol.  Look at the big picture, health is improving, life is getting better.  Do weight lifting to tone up, consider a session or two with a trainer for specific things that will help you.  Kathy
