Too Thin??

Happy New Year Everybody,

So I went back to work this week after being out on LOA for 6 weeks due to the surgery I had to remove my thyroid. As I mentioned before I had thyroid cancer. But thankfully I have gotten a clean bill of health since and doctors tell me I am now cancer free. YAY.

Well while I was recovering I lost another 10-12 lbs. I am now down to 144 lbs. I know I lost more inches though honestly I don't know how that happened as I have done absolutely no exercise.

The problem I now have is everybody telling me I am way too thin. lol some problem huh?  To think a year ago that would have been music to my ears. But I have to say I think if I lose anymore weight I will look anorexic.  In my head I would like to lose about 10 more lbs. Just to be at a weight that is not considered overweight. My healthy weight per the BMI calculator is 140 lbs. I am almost there. But I carry my weight well and look like i may weigh in the 120's. I am wearing a size 6. when I started this journey I was a size 24.

Another thing is that when I was exercising I really enjoyed it. I felt good about myself and I really want to start up again. But again that has been an issue because of my illness I am still experiencing alot of fatigue and I have not been able to get the motivation to go. I want to  do the weight circuit so that I can tone down. My stomach and thighs starting to get flabby which they weren't before I got sick and stopped working out.

So my dilemma is how do I go back to the gym and not lose anymore weight? I have to say that I do have to get back to eating right again. Not that I deviated to much from my diet, but I have gradually noticed the craving of carbs and have found myself eating more breads which is a big NOT for me because when I eat bread I start craving everything I shouldn't be eating.

Any suggestions welcome!!

Thanks,

Sam

so gald that you are doing better and are Cancer free.

I think that you may need to increase your calories and carbs to help you not lose anymore weight. As far as if you are too skinny, only you can tell that.  I would say go by how you feel, but u are probably still easily fatigued by overcoming the surgery and the cancer.  I think that u should speak with your Bariatric surgeon and possibly a nutritionist as well.  You could have just lost the weight due to the surgery and it might even out a bit as your further out and fully recovered from it.

Wish you the best.

Congrats on the cancer free diagnosis Sam.  Your body will be adjusting to the surgery for a bit yet and any adjustments in your thyroid replacement medications.  Do not go to your trigger foods.  Check with your nutritionist for tweeking your food plan.

You have done amazing following wls.  Yayyyyy Sam.  Great to see posts from other bariatric buddy members.

Hi sweet Sam,

I ,too, am glad you are cancer free. I know that your recuperation will be slower than you may want. I've had 3 other surgeries this past year besides my WLS. I use to bounce back from surgeries, but not so much any more. I've been having cravings lately. Not a fun place to be. Maybe your body is thinking it needs something. I'm just rambling here. I really have no idea why some cravings come and go. I just want to encourage you during this recovery. Hold on tight to what you know has worked for you. I usually gain back some of the weight I lose after a surgery.  This probably is not helping much, but I care about you and want the best for you   Hugs,   Mag
