I had my surgery
Well I finally had my surgery, was supposed to have it done on Nov 10th but my surgeon had to cancel due to family emergency, so it was rescheduled for Dec 1st.. I wish I could say it has all been smooth sailing but it has not.. :( The Roux-eny went great, but while he was in there he found I had two hernias , one umbilical and one by the esophogus, he fixed them up while he was doing my bypass. I was feeling pretty good after the surgery and was thinking it was really going to be an easy recovery until...... dam dam dam... I ruptured the umbilical hernia while coughing and had to be taken back to surgery on the 2nd to fix that. Now its been constant pain, broken IVs from my small veins, cannot hardly move, still in the hospital blah blah blah... blood pressure too high, oxygen too low, and on and on... they are talking about finally sending me home today, I really really want that however not sure what I will do once I get there because I cannot even pull my own underwear up ugh!! I do have to say that my blood sugars since surgery have been great, no higher then 130 and thats with no insulin or diabetic meds at all, today it was only 107 AFTER breakfast so I think the diabites is nearly gone WOOOHOOO!! Also cannot believe that having such a tiny bit of food fills me up and I almost never even think about eating, usually the kitchen brings up my meal and I am not even aware that I havent eaten yet and have no hunger, thats a first for me LOL!! Just thought I would give an update, sure hope I get to go home today and start this journey for real on my own...
Congrats on getting to the losing side of surgery Becca. So sorry that you had to go back again the next day. Remember to splint your incisions with your hand of a pillow. I found this helped a lot. The most painful incision for me was a spot loser than my left incision, closer to my waistline. This bothered for a couple of weeks.
I too enjoyed the lack of hunger. Sip, sip, sip. Keep us up to date. Hope this note finds you released and home safe and sound. Prayers for a rapid recovery. Let's lose together.
