Hi, all!  I am new to this group. As requested, I am posting an introduction. My surgery is scheduled for Nov. 9. I am on the pre-op diet right now . I am have lap band surgery. I am 51 and live in Colorado.  I am hopeful that this tool will finally let me lose weight and keep it off, no more yo yo. I know part of my problem is mental hunger. Anyone know what I mean? Anyone conquer it? If so, how?

I'm pretty new to the site too, but there are some excellent discussions about "head" hunger versus real hunger. You'll find this forum a real asset to you.

Congratulations on your upcoming surgery! I know you're excited and I am sending you positive thoughts for a speedy recovery.

Welcome and congrats on your choice for surgery.

I think we all have head hunger... that's one of the main reasons we are here.  You are not alone.  I think a big part of conquering it, though I haven't quite gotten there, is awareness of why we are eating... am I really hungry or do I just want to eat.  And then, if I just want to eat... why?  What is going on that is making me want to eat?  Counseling is very beneficial in this area.  And, if you are inclined, prayer can work wonders, too.

Good luck, and, again, welcome.

Diana
I hope you dance with enthusiasm... and a million other things joyful!
