Please Help
i have been on medical leave from work for a severe balance problem..ive been off for almost 5 months now. i have gained 7 pounds and feel miserable. i know its my fault because im eating out of boredom..i have found that i can eat chips, cookies, ice cream..basically all of the old stuff i could before weightloss. i cant really exercise bc of the balance issues nor can i drive..so i sit home alone. i do have my husband here but he works 2nd shift(1pm-1am). i mean i absolutely know this is my fault but i have trouble with the head hunger now..i beat myself up about and critize myself in the mirror..i just feel like givin up and maybe i wasnt worthy enough for this great gift i was given.
Chris, you are sooooo worth the effort. Put down the unhealthy things, your mind is playing tricks on you. Have you followed any suggestions your surgeon and/or pcp offer for the balance issues?
There are things that can be done seated with bands and canned products from the kitchen cupboard for exercising that does not involve standing balance.
What do you do to keep your mind busy during the day? Crafts, reading, puzzles or a day in front of the tube? How about getting a ride from a friend, taxi, bus to go places that you can safely go. Being stuck inside 4 walls can make one go silly. Come to the chat session this evening, we can share more ideas. Hugs

You have to dig deep down within yourself and remember how you felt when you were first jumping the hoops to do this and got your YES for surgery. Get back in touch with how excited and hopeful you were. Recommit to all of those promises you made to yourself and your surgeon. This is a setback, but it doesn't have to be permanant. I went back to school and regained what ended up being 17 lbs. It has taken me 5 months but am only 2 lbs from where I was before that regain. Mostly due to eating very "clean", as i put it. Get back to the basics and find some seated activity you can do. Then find ways to occupy your time and mind. YOU CAN DO THIS and you do deserve it!

google seated exercise, or something to that effect. You will find resources from there.

Please don't beat yourself up..that will just lead to a vicious cycle. First, I applaud you for reaching out and sharing your struggle..that was a HUGE step. Now that you've owned up to the problem try to do things at home that will keep you busy. Invite friends over for a nice afternoon to chat and catch up on things. Continue to chat on this site as often as you need. Speak to your doctor about your condition..remember..it's not how many times you fall...what matters is that you keep getting up...tomorrow's another day. I hope my input helps in any way
