I am not getting enough protein I think that is why I am losing sooooo sssssllllloooowwwww!!! I really don't like protein drinks. I haven't tried Muscle Milk but I was concerned that they were not the proper type of protein!  I want to add a shake or 2 to my schedule but I just can't stomach them. I can do CIB and SlimFast shakes but I don't know it the SlimFast High Protein is right either! AHHHH!!!   I am going insane please give me ideas for getting more protein!!!

Jeanine, are you into yogurt?  Greek yogurt is the highest in protein count.  The flavors help, you can also flavor the plain greek yogurt with many things.  I have yogurt and cottage cheese most days of the week.  It is easy and satisfying.  Consider refried beans, chili, to get away from all the sweet drinks.  Eggs, boiled, egg salad, fried, poached.  There are non shake things that you can try.    Add instant milk powder to the water when you make hot cereal for added protein.  Consider adding instant milk powder to CIB for added protein if the powders do not go well.

I have more ideas, just drawing a blank at the moment.  I will pop back in with them when I can.  You are right, not enough protein slows the losing.  Are you getting your liquids?  Walking or other exercise?  Here for you to bounce ideas off.  Hugs

Hi again,     I agree with Kathy on all she said.  Also I like Muscle Milk's taste and my doctor said it was fine with him for a while to get my protein  up where it should be. I still use Isopure or Isopril. Can't think of the name and my knee is hurting to bad to go and look. It up. My friend is coming to get my walker out of the car and I will send it to you It's 20 oz wate and 40 grams protein. some health stores carry it and it has different flavors.     Mag

What protein drinks have you tried?  That may help us offer alternatives you've not tried.  I like the greek yogurt, like Kathy.  Though I've not had surgery yet, I've been trying different things/shakes to prepare for post surgery... to know what I like before hand and have them in-house when I come home.  So far, I've tried the UNJURY and I like those.  They now even have a chicken broth flavor. If you don't like the taste, they have  unflavored that can be added to just about anything.  The only think with UNJURY is that it can't be added to anything over 130 degrees.  I've also tried Optisource, only the strawberry and it wasn't too bad.

Let us know which products you've tried and don't like... something is out there that will work for you.

Moving forward,
Diana

 Diana,

Tastes change after surgery so try not to stock up too much on a certain protein!
