Hi, I am Gretchen Arnold, I had Gastric Bypass on 6/30/2011.  I am a mother of three, married.  This is the first time I have been on a chat sight.  I am new to all of this and the new life style.  So I will probably be the most chatty on the page.  I am having a lot of problems with tiredness.  Thanks for letting me express.

Welcome to the family Gretchen.  Looking forward to reading your chat.  Congrats on surgery, welcome to the losing side of things.  How are you doing?

I had RNY nearly 2 years ago, loving the new me.  Sharing with others helps me with my goals.

The tiredness will pass in just a bit, your body is getting used to the new eating plan.  Take naps when you need to and sip, sip, sip some more.

Dear Gretchen and others. I had a sleeve done in April this year and to date have not lost one pound, in fact two weeks ago, I was 4 pounds heavier than what i was surgery day.

These are the things I have done to try and correct this. Weighing and measuring my food every day. Doing some exercise when I can. I have been under a lot of stress with my mom. She is dying from Pulmonary Fibrosis. We just planned her funeral last week. I am not sure if it is stress or what. I am blaming myself, not my physician. He is great.
Due to the stress, I was eating a lot of sweets. I previously had a lap band and that stopped working for me.

I am open to any and all suggestions of how to get this weight off. I am listening to hypnosis tapes, going to a counselor, seeing a nutritionist and I even joined OA. I appreciate your time reading this. Thank you.

Stress can keep you from losing as well as eating the sweets.  Of course I don't know post-surgery everything I need to know but I do know that pre-op stress would make me hold onto my weight no matter what I did to try and lose.  I am so sorry for your stuggle with your mom.  I would try to cut the sweets for sure but the stress levels I'm not sure how to get a handle on except I see a therapist every 2 weeks because stress does me in.  Good luck and take care

Welcome Gretchen! Congrats on your surgery! This is a great site, I have found the people here very supportive. I too had never joined a group / online support but this has helped a lot. I just had my surgery last Friday and so far so good but of course tired easily. Hey - we had a major surgery, the body needs a bit of time. Looking forward to sharing!
