Welcome sportsmom. I think you have come to the right place. I found it over a year ago and the wonderful people here helped me along in my very hard trip. I have only one comment on the things you said. Why the band? It's the worst possible choice you can make for WLS. I suggest you read about your alternatives on this site, ask questions and make an informed choice.

Welcome to the group sportsmom, you will find the support you need here. Each surgeon has us do what is neccessary to ensure the safest surgery possible. Sounds like your surgeon is doing that.
Do you have any specific questions? I have friends in my local wls support group that have had wonderful success with the band. I chose RNY, based on my co-morbidities, and am thrilled with the results. Having support is one of the best things for success. I chose who to share that I was having surgery with before surgery. If someone asks, notices the difference, then I share that I had surgery. If is not the 'easy' way out the some think. It is a wonderful tool. Let us know how we can help. Hugs

Hi Sportsmom,
I am not as new to the site because I lurked for awhile and read everything I could before posting my questions and I can honestly say now 13 days post-op that I am so happy this site is here. The help and answers really help put me at ease and made me feel so much better about my choices and what I am doing right and what are normal things that everyone goes through. The chat on Mondays was helpful to get answers for questions right then :) Good luck on your journey.
