Still Hungry

I'm 10 days out post op.  I see my Dr. today for 1st post op appt.  I am still hungry.  I had a VSG.  Is anyone else out there still hungry?  I thought that would be gone.  I know I should be able to start mushy foods today or tomorrow.  I havn't had a problem with anything so far.  No nausea no vomitting and been able to keep everything down.  That kind of worries me.

Leave it to you to slap the snot out of me and put me straight.  It must be that you are a New Yorker lol.  I was just worried because everyone kept saying that they weren't hungry and that was so exciting to me.  I just don't want to stretch my pouch out.  Yes I am very happy I am not praying to the porcelin gods.

Hi Girlfriend,
I agree with Tammy. Not a good thing to be sick . Best to keep everything down.  Happy dance.    Happy dance.
Many people go through emotional swings after weight loss surgery. Maybe that's part of what's going on. Does your tummy say your hungry? Or is it that your "mind" is hungry. I for one think I want to eat especially when I am stressed. The surgery was a big stress for me. I'm learning with time what is true hunger and what is "head" hunger. Let us know what the doctor has to say. OK?   Mag

Hey Mags,

I am having realy hunger not head hunger.  Saw Dr. yesterday and I mentioned to him that I was really hungry.  He just chuckled.  He said it could be that I have been on liquids for 20 days.  Had a scrambled egg last night.  Ate about 1/2.  Had cottage cheese, scrambled egg and tuna today.  Breakfast lunch dinner.  Tasted good.  I will have to see how it goes.  Just afraid of stretching my pouch.  Lost 9 lbs since surgery.

Michele,
Real Hunger! Oh my, WHAT a bite!!!!!!  (sorry I couldn't resist: pun intended.)  I know I have some sick humor. Well, sweetie, I'm glad you and your doctor are on top of things. I remember the taste of my first egg. Heaven. You are doing great. Just try to relax but hold on. We are all on one beautiful and wild ride. Stole that line from my friend, Judy.
Hugs to you.   Mag      9 pounds! that's great!

Count your blessings. I was held in-hospital 7 days post-op without food or drink and was on liquids only for 1 week after that. No complications, S.O.P for my doc. It's too early to feel your restriction, you may not feel it until the 2nd month. That doesn't mean that you can eat. It means that you need to be extra careful at the beginning. Keep to your program and you should be fine. Best of luck!

Thanks Amalia,

I really wanted the rny for more restrictions but my Dr couldn't do it on me for medical reasons.  I take coumidin and said this would be better.  My biggest worry is stretching my pouch.  I haven't had any real problems as far as to tell me if I am overeatting.  Believe me I am not asking for problems but think I should get crampy or something to make me feel full.
