Happy and Nervous
HI all, just wanted to share as my date is coming up soon, June 27. I officially started this journey (okay years ago but for real now) in January and made some progress. I work in China most of the time and went back for the first time "on the plan" in March...and was scared that I would gain gain gain as was restarting a business, living in temp housing, got out of recording what i eat, ate out a lot due to the temp housing etc. I tried to focus on veggies but as time went on I started to snack at night (the big loneliness bucket) and go off a bit....I returned to the US a few days ago and weighed myself and was so excited - lost 2 pounds!!!! I am so encouraged it gave me the boost to recommit to the food diary which should be pretty easy soon since it will be water, protein drink, water, liquid vitamin, . Getting a bit nervous on the surgery date but can't wait! My surgeon's diet plan is 3 weeks liquid and then start on soft food which seems quick but hopefully not too difficult. Quote of the week is "anything that flakes" on the food front. Will be looking for recipes.
Take care all,
Kathy

Hi, Kathy! Wow! Your day is coming up quickly and I am confident that you will bounce into this next step with ease. You are doing so well! I can relate to what you said re China. I went to Singapore for 3 weeks on business and stayed in a hotel during that time. That was in 2002. At that time I weighed 275. I was alone (no friends or familiar colleagues), too. and felt very out of place. (The movie with Bill Murray, "Lost in Translation" was so on the nose and I found that, if you haven't lived that experience, you really don't understand the movie or the experience.) Anyway, I didn't know what to expect with food; was working the 11pm to 7am shift, slept during the day, and was really eating only one full meal a day with small snacks the rest of the time. I lost 15 pounds in 3 weeks. I didn't even realize I was losing weight. I was totally amazed and dumbfounded when I returned home. The only indication I was losing was that my clothes were looser and I thought that was because I was hand washing my clothes so the dryer wasn't shrinking them. It's funny what we tell ourselves, isn't it? Of course, I've gained it all back and then some. I'm glad to hear you are back to journaling, now. Keep up the steps in the journey! I'm hanging with you... Warm regards,
Diana

HI Diana,
Lost in Translation is so funny but you are right, it helps to have the experience to get the movie. Wow losing 15 pounds was awesome! I can't claim that, usually it is the other way around. It is interesting what we tell ourselves, especially subconsciously! I am working on "I will lose and be healthy" but have always thought my dryer was the reason for tight clothes! Thanks for your encouragement! Kathy

Good for you losing 2 lbs when you thought you would be gaining! Thats always a wonderful suprise! Wishing you the best of luck with your pre-op time. Make good use of it to learn all you can and get on track with instilling some of the essential success habits for post-op life.
I wish I could help you on the recipes, but I am not into too many flakey fish foods..lol.
Try looking at the recipes on atkins, then just try to reduce the fats and you will be sure to be eating low carb!
