Bariatric Buddy
Hi all
I am new to the group. I am 54 with my surgery 4/13/10. I am losing aweful slowly. I am looking for a buddy(s) to mentor me or reassure me cause I am not losing as fast as I want. Exercise is sporatic since have breathing and heart problems. I can't go out in 100+ weather. Any suggestions appreciated.
Hi, Charlene,
I haven't had my surgery yet so I'm not really qualified to mentor you. However, I can try to encourage you. 46 pounds is something... it's a big step. I'm sure others will be offer some solid words of wisdom and encouragement as well as good advice and steps you can take to get it kick started again. I'm 57 and hope to get a date for my surgery soon... could be about 2 months or it could be 6 months... insurance will say. Hang in there, Charlene!

Welcome to our group! The weight loss does slow down an awful lot after 8 months or so. But don't give up. I omnly had 115 ish to lose, and it took me a full 2 years, but I got there and if you are disciplined you can too.
Try googling for chair exercises. Any exercise helps. I hope as you continue to lose weight, your health problems improve a lot for you.
We do have buddy's here! I will do all I can to encourage you, but I am not able to get on tooo often, as lifeis crazy

Lost 114 lbs. working on getting rid of a recent 10 lb regain...and WILL succeed!
I am just curious, was 46 your total lost, or was there regain involved? Have you check with your surgeon on why RNY may not being as effective for you as you had expected?

AHHHH well thats a whole different story!!!!!! Sorry thought it was a year and 2 months, not just 2 months! Sooo sorry for misunderstanding!
46 in 2 months is not slowly at all! When was the last time you lost that much even in triple the time? You are doing wonderful! It took me 4 months to lose 50 lbs, and 2 years to lose 114 lbs. Know too, the loss rate will fluctuate. Your body has much to adapt to, and has to have a break now and then. I hit plateaus at least once a month for 1 to 2, sometimes even 3 weeks. We all lose differnetly, but you are doing great!

Hi Charlene,
I'm a bit confused. Was your surgery 4/13/10 or 4/13/11? It said one in your message and another under your picture. If it is only 2 months since your surgery you are doing great. Think of it! 45 pounds! That's incredible.
The great part about this group is there is so much information and encouragement here. We are all buddies, mentors, friends, etc. We can not always be available as one person, but there is someone who will answer your post with just the right info or a much needed encouraging word.. Who knows, it may be the start of a life long friendship. We are all here for you. Mag
