I am soooo proud of the effort you are putting into this! You set a fine example for all of us lady! Keep us posted on how it is going. What is a mini barley rusk?? Never heard of it!
Keep up your practice, and perfection may follow soon!

Hi Patrece, I missed you over the past couple of days. I hope everyhing is all right in the home end. I don't know what kind of an example I'm setting for the rest of you but I'm certainly struggling with this protein diet. I'm not used to eating like this and tend to keep my protein/fat consumption about the same as before. As a result, I end up hungry by the end of the day and can't think of ways to supplement.
Rusks are hard bread (in this case made of barley.) These are mini rusks weighing about 5 grams each (40 calories, 4gr carbohydrate each) and I keep it down to 1 per day at breakfast. Apparently rusks were used widely by seamen in the old days because it was hard to keep bread fresh and they are still used widely here.
I've been eating the same type of diet for the past couple of days and will continue to do so as long as I can - "can" being the operative word here!
I AM at my lowest weight today after fluctating widely for a while but nothing lost.

Hopefully being at the low end of the fluctuation means you are getting ready to break out of the stall. I too have a window I am stuck in, it varies by 3 lbs up and down. Gotta break out of this myself. Maybe the extra housework I am doing today will help me do that. Hoping with taking the extra iron, my anemia will lessen and my energy will raise a bit. Sooo tired of being soo tired. I am sure part of it is stress, but doubt it is the biggest part of the fatigue.

Thanks for sharing the info on the rusks. Interesting! Never heard of them before.

When I get huingry at the end of the day, I eat either yogurt, cottage cheese, a slice  of cheese, or most often, some type of fruit. You could always supplement with a protein drink as well. Best of luck in being able to continue to eat healthy and low carb!

Amalia and Patrece,

Amalia  I'm glad you are working hard to keep down the carbs. I know it is difficult to do. This week I have had too many carbs. I'll cut back today.  I've been eating many protein bars and they are pretty high with carbs. Must have cooking real meals as a top priority.

The spreadsheet is doing what I wanted it to do. My water and meds and supplements are easier to keep track of and it has shown me where  I'm making the errors.

We got rain yesterday so no cook-out. We needed the rain so much. The Monsoon's have started. I love to watch the storms roll through. Sometimes they are really dangerous. In 2009 it took one of our trees down. It did lay on the flat roof on the front porch. Main roof was not touched. the landscape company was able to right it and stake it. It's the one that died this year due to the frost.

I'm sleeping 6 hours every night now. Getting things done around the house. Tomorrow is dentist appointment. I'm meeting a women, Sharon, that I know from the Over 50 Forum. I'm looking forward to this.

Hugs,     Mag

Sounds like the spreadsheet is a great idea, Mag!
I could never get that organized! I hope your sleep gets back to normal. That's about how long I sleep too and it doesn't feel nearly enough!

Great idea doing that spreadsheet! Maybe you should share a blank copy of it with the rest of us! lol.
We got a heavy rainfall today, which is rare for us, especially this time of year. Boy did we need it, so many wildfires going on all around us. I am hoping the rain helped put some of them out.
Soooooooooo great to hear you are sleeping again! Have fun meeting your friend. Ley us know how you week is going!

Hey Ladies! Sorry I have been missing in action for a few days, but here I am... back to bother you all.

Itoo am stuck where i am on the scale, also no change in how clothes fit or measurement. Have NOT been totally on program, and have to get better at this again...and again.... and again...

Think tomorrow i may do a liquid diet for the day then have a very light protein and veggie based dinner. Will begin my day with a glass of water first, instead of coffee, and plan to get in a nice long walk in the later evening when it is cooler outdoors. I will also be working on extra projects here around the house. No one here but me for the next 2 1/2 days, so will try to focus mostly on meeting my needs and getting some things done here that have been put off for far too long.

I am definately anemic, doc called and instructed me to take feosol twice a day for 3 months then have another blood draw done to re-check it. He says it likely has a lot to do with my lethargy these last few months.

Hope you all have a great WLS day!

Hi Amalia and Patrece,

Sorry, Amalia, that I did not get a post up after you posted. I tried I really tried. Once I wrote a long response and it disappeared on me. Then I wrote a second time and my computer froze and I lost that one. I gave up on trying for a while.

Patrece, nice to hear from you. Sounds like you will have a little break from what you said in your post. Make yourself number 1.

I am through my manic phase. Didn't crash and burn exactly like is normal after a 9 week manic phase, but eating every minute my pouch will let me. I'm at that teary stage where I just want to cry at the drop of a hat. All I want to eat is sugar which I know is just making things worse. I think I liked the manic phase better. Seeing my PNP on Monday. He upped 2 of my meds last week and I think that is part of this situation. Now I don't know which one might need to be adjusted. We will see what he has to say on Monday.
Or it could be because one of my dearest friends in Indiana has just lost her Mom and sister-in-law one week apart. I can't afford to fly home but that is where my heart is. I've known the entire family since Jannie and I were kids. My Dad always liked her best. lol But it's true.    Anyway her Mom (Vivian) was a wonderful lady and so much fun to be with. I even lived with them at one point. She will be and already is missed. I had told her a few weeks ago to get strong this summer so we could go to our favorite place to eat. Jan wanted to hold off on the memorial until Labor Day so people would have a long weekend to travel and I will already be there. Others said they needed closer and want it ASAP, That's life I guess. They say it comes in 3's so I wonder who will be the third one of this group.

  Love and Hugs,   Mag

Ohhh Mag... Too much for you to deal with right now. Somehow we just keep going and get through it. Try to remind yourself that the food won't fix anything. You need to eat, and eat enough of the right things, but don't allow these hard times to ruin what you have worked so hard for girl. I am not saying this to be critical, but because i care about you, and I know you want so badly to succeed. Believe me, i understand. It can be hard to learn to let go of one of the biggest comnforts we ever turned to.

I am so sorry about your friends losses and that you cannot be there now. I know you are there in heart. I do hope too, that you find some inner peace to help you through all that you are and have been facing lately. I am keeping you in my heart and prayers.

Yes, I am getting a little break, if only my son and his family would let me have it. They know this is my ME time, but continue to come over, call etc. Just wanted a couple of days to me. Not that I don't love them, but I really need this time, when it is available to me. They just don't seem to get it. This evening he assured me, he was going to make sure they didn't call and come over tomorrow. we will see.

Have a terrible sinus infection or? I am thinking thats what it is. The pain of it all! When I blow it is bloody. When I breathe in through my nose it stings like fire. Congestion and throbbing face, eyes, etc. uggggh. But Right now given this and the other things I am facing, I doubt it compares to what you must be going through. Big hugs coming your way lady!

((Mag)) I'm sorry about the loss of your friends, hon. I don't know much about your ailment or the meds you need to take but do be careful. Meds always do a number on me and I don't like them very much, but what are you gonna  do...
