Challenge...NOT for everyone!

Thank you Fran. It is really hard too because my hubby smokes. I have quit 4 or 5 times in the last year only to go back to it due to weakness at smelling it on my husband and in my garage, and knowing they are right there so easy to access. I have to find a way to stay stronger!
Yes the stress definately makes it harder. They are like a smokers pacifier. I hope he gets work soon. Thanks again for the encouragement and support.

Lost 114 lbs. working on getting rid of a recent 10 lb regain...and WILL succeed!

Hi all,
Well, today has been an unusual day. Sleeping to make up for the not sleeping I was doing. So I have only had 10 ounces of water, some vits, and all morning meds. Just took lunch meds. Going to drink 6 ounces of water before I eat "Lunch."

We need to go shopping desperately. So for breakfast @ 11:30 I decided to go to McDonald's. Got an order of 4 chicken nuggets. Drove home. Decided NOT to eat them. Left them in the frig for my sister. I had some FF cottage cheese. Spent some time on face book and went back to bed. Now is that a NSV or what? But we haven't gone shopping yet so I'm eating the last of the cottage cheese. Not exactly a balance diet, but I'll take it for one day because I needed to sleep so I can function again.    Mag....

Yes Mag that is a wonderful NSV! Good for you on kicking yourself in the behind and opting to not eat the nuggets. I am rpoud of you.
I use cottage cheese alot for meeting my protein needs. I never seem to tire of it either, and hope it stays that way!

Hope you get all caught up on your sleep and that you are finding some peace of mind.

Hugs to you lady!

Hi. It's been a few days since I posted since my eyesight (double vision) has not improved much. At brother's initiative I now wear a patch over one eye, which does reduce the DV, but makes depth perception and getting around harder.
The good news: I weighed this morning 1 kilo less than I last reported, which (I think) is 2 kg less than when we started this thread! Considering that I RARELY lose 2 kg in a little over a week, it feels GREAT!
My diet has been Atkins-type, mostly protein and a few veggies in the form of salad. My snacks are in the same category too, and no, don't worry oh fearless leader, I am eating just fine! Carbs are NOT good for you anyway! I am also going back to  drinking 1-2 protein drinks a day.
I felt really bad about your pet Mag. It got me to thinking how many pets we have lost throughout my lifetime and it wasn't pleasant.

Amalia, you are doing wonderfully! You have gone from ready to throw in the towel on working at this, to losing again, and being happy about it! I am soooo glad I posted this challenge when I did.  I know it has helped a few of us get a grip again, and to really be honest with not only others, but most importantly, ourselves. Thats is one of the keys to succeeding.

I sure hope your DV clears up soon. It must be very frustrating and discouraging. BUT you hang in there and don't let it get you down. You are such an inspiration lady!

Hi Amalia,

I'm sorry you are still having eye problems. I'm very happy for you at your weight loss. That is truly wonderful.  I found out that I tolerate salads very well. I love salads in the summer time.   Hugs,   Mag

Last evening I went for a walk. It was only 1 mile, but lots of up and down hill so the resistance is great, and it helps shake things up a bit for how my body has to exert itsself to handle the change. Makes for a great walking workout. Then add to the uphill, a strong wind that kicked up from in front of me, and the resistance was even greater.

I also clocked 2 other walking routes I can walk to keep the view and effort a bit different, but all routes from my home are hilly. One route is 2.5 miles, and the other 2.3 miles. I have two more routes I want to clock, which, one is a shortened version of another, and one extends the 1 mile route. Want to have my options open and know how much I am getting in.

Now, one thing I want to know is: What are each of us doing to be nice to ourselves? I am taking a nap if I need one, taking care of my garden, and spending time with my grandkids now and then. Today I am scheduling my 3 year wls follow up appt along with a ck to see if I have an ulcer going on.

Hoping you all have a very successful and fuilfilling day today!

i really need to clock some walking routes.  But I need to work up to that first.  There are hills no matter which way i go.  I fear that after 2 months of NO exercise, that may be pushing yoo far too fast..

As far as being nice to myself,  I have started reading again.  I have always loved to read, but have not been allowing myself that luxury.  Have been taking the time lately.

Good for you on taking the time to read! I enjoy it too, but I too haven't really got the time to spare right now. When i start reading , if I like it, i cannot put it down. If I don't like it, I won't pick it back up..lol. No happy medium with me I swear! hahaha.

Just start where you are able to on the walking, and build up as you are ready. I am not doing as well as I did last summer with it, because I have not been consistant. I will just build up as I am able, which won't take long if I keep at it. Listen to your body, it will guide you.

Hey everybody! I am new to the group. I am TIffany. I had gastric bypass March 31, 2011 and I have lost 55 lbs. as of today. Before I had my surgery I was working out every week then my best friend passed away and I have had no motivation to do anything exercise wise. My goal is to walk 3 times a week for about 20-30 min. I am going to start this evening when the sun isn't so bright! I started walking last week I did walk two days and I felt great. Good luck everyone.
