Hi, Eliza,  I rec'd good news on Friday... the surgeon accepted me.  So now begins the process.  I have been going to my PCP every 6 months for blood checks as I have diabetes, high blood pressure, and GERD.  They do a full work up, minus vitamin checks, so I have been aware of what my issues are.  My latest blood work showed that I'm borderline anemic so I've been trying to eat foods that are higher in iron content.  My BMI is 52 so I know my co-morbidities are bad enough.  I was awarded disability in March and that has given me the boost I needed, insurance-wise, to get this process going and to get my overall health in order.  I thank God for that!

Keep me posted... I'd like to share in your progress if you don't mind sharing.
I hope you dance with enthusiasm... and a million other things joyful!

Congratulations on your acceptance adn taking this step for your health!!  I am sorry about the co-morbidities and disability but in a way they have helped on this step and should also help on the insurance acceptance.  Not sure if you received yet  but I am confident you will! All insurance co's are different so can only comment on how mine was - not bad once they have the data they need.  My surgeon's office helped a lot with that process and they have it down in terms of what to provide, etc. My insurance co required to have 6 mos of reports from my doctor on efforts to lose weight/ make lifestyle changes in addition to the surgeon's report (whi*****ludes all the history of dieting etc.) and medical data.  Easy to complete if you are taking steps and I did not mind the 6 months as has given me time to practice better habits and think about what to do after / plan ahead.  It is not a quick fix  - a journey as you know.  Good for you for making yourself a priority!!! All the best,
Kathy

Thanks, Kathy.  I will be calling my insurance today to see what I can see.  I'll accept whatever they say... ok for now or in 6 months.  I know I have to have the WLS and if it means I need 6 months records and, as you say, time to practice, then that's what I'll do.  I feel my co-mobidity issues worsen as time goes on so, I am concerned about the potential of 6 more months.  I'm amazed at how quickly I have gotten worse over the last year.  However, I am closer to a healthier me and the 6 months, if that's what it will be, will be heading in the right direction.  Thanks again for your support!  My best to you... Diana
