still hanging in there

Good Morning. Been lurking around lately. Havent really posted much about my progress. Stress is full force right now. Maybe I will see relief by the end of the summer.   Nost of it is financial, thus the reason why I have been working extra hours.  I will be so glad when I can work less than 48-50 hours a week.

Finally saw a positive change in the scale this week. For 2 weeks I was gaining and losing the same 4 pounds despite what I did to change things up. The biggest issue has been that I have not been exercising. Been 6 weeks. The first 2 weeks was because I was sick, the next 2 was b/c I had no energy (B12 was low), the last 2 weeks I just have lacked motivation. I was also having this unexplained pain to my lef lower abdomen. The pain has been pretty much gone the last 2 weeks. No hernia, thank goodness. Now it is just TIME TO GET MY butt into gear.

I have also been noticing lots of changing in my body. I am losing inches still. The skin is beginning to sag BIG time. This is bittersweet for me. I was always self concience about my body, now it seems that I am more so. I hate the loose skin of my arms and inner thighs. So in a way I have been a little depressed about it. it does Not bother me everyday.

Moods have been more stable.  I have not been to the psychologist in 3 weeks.  I need to schedule an appt.  I am seeing a chiropractor due to having recurrent headaches.  I was not sure if it was because of my B12 being low or if it was my herniated discs acting up again.  The herniating discs was the cause.  Started seeing a chiropractor for that and so far it is helping alot.  My neck and shoulder muscles are less stiff and tight.  I do think that I am gonna make an appt with PCP and ask for flexeril to take at night, just to help more.  I will admit how bad of a post-op I have been.  I have taken Ibuprofen about once a week the last 2 weeks.  Tylenol just did not take it.  I am taking nexium twice a day and carafate a few times a day at well (CNP thought the pain I was having was due to increased acid and a thickening of my stomach lining).

FRAN!!!!!
It's so good to hear from you!!! I figured you were busy with work, but was going to send you a PM if I didn't see you on here soon. Glad you are losing inches. My weight lose has slowed down the last 2 weeks. I'm in PT now and working up on my exercises. I feel that I'm finally at a place that it is doing good and strengthening my muscles. Also broke down and got a cortisone shot so I can walk better and longer.
Glad your mood has stabilized. It was tough on you for quite awhile. My PNC just raised my Effexor for the first time since surgery. I know many people have to go up on meds due to the WLS.
I'm now able to eat normally. I thought it would never happen no more pain or N/V. I still use one profect a day just to up my protein.
All in all, life is good. My sister just transferred to a different hospital in the same health system. She is working 32 hours a week and still gets full benefits. She is thrilled. Some of the people in pre-op and surgery she knows already and that helps her feel more settled.
Sorry this is so long. It's just that I've missed you and others that use to go to Monday chat room.  Take care of yourself. Stop lurking and write a line or two so we know what's up.  Your friend,   Mag

Get girl.  Thanx for thinking of me.  I really should get here and post more regular.  If nothing else atleast post a blog.  I am feeling pretty good so far this week.  Sinuses kicking my a$$.  Figured I would take a claritin D.  Bad choice.  It had the opposite effect on me.  Made me sleepy but wired me at the same time.... LOL..  Took a long hot shower.  Hoping that my droopy eyelids means that I will be OUT like a LIGHT in just a few.

I have been seeing the Psychologist, but missed the last 2 appts.  I need to reschedule.  Thinking of going to the office where the psychiatrist is as well.  I am gonna see if they will change my antidepressant.  Been on the same thing and the same dosage for 8 years now.  There may be something better out there.

I have missed Monday night chats because I have took a nap right through them.  Unfortunately I will miss this one as well due to being out of town.  Gonna get my nephew from va and bring him up to PA for the week and then next weekend my family are getting together for a cookout and such.  So looking forward to some fun in the SUN.

So glad that you are finally feeling better.  WTG on getting the cortisone shot.  Sometimes we just need that extra help.  Hope that it helps you in your therapy so that you can continue and build that strength up.

I am gonna go into the gym next week and switch personal trainers to give me more options of when I can work out.  Hopefully that will help get me re-motivated as well.  I know that once I get in there, I will get motivated again.  Just cant get my butt in there.  If I schedule a personal trainer session,  I know I will go and not cancel the appt.

Have a great weekend.  sorry so long.  missed ya as well.

Fran,

As someone who suffers from mental health issues, I can't stress enough how important it is to keep your moods stable.  It also doesn't help when you are dealing with physical pain (I also have herniated discs in my neck that cause me to have migraines.  I see a pain management specialist.)  Tylenol does not work for me either, but please be careful with the NSAIDS and your pouch.  They can be be heck on your stomach regardless of GBS surgery.

Fran.... HUGS coming your way. It can be so hard to find a good balance with life and post wls. This is NOT an easy journey in the least.

I wish you the best of luck in getting everything smoothed out. Financial, health, wls, etc. Each area of our life affects the other and it gets hard to balance.

Hang in there and focus on taking care of you too!
