How to pick a hospital?

Hi.  I know I've been MIA for several months and I'm sorry.  I tried to get on a program last year but couldn't due to mental health concerns.  Now I'm much more stable and ready to be a candidate for gastric banding.  Anyway, there are hospitals with weightloss clinics near me.  They have the same rating, 1A, and they have the same surgeons running the programs.  All things seem equal.  How do I pick?

Hi Rachel,
Sounds as if either way you will have the same doctor's and his/her staff working with you. Good luck deciding.  Mag

Yeah, that's the issue.  It's comparing apples to apples, except in this case, the apples are too similar!

I would try and meet with a few of them and see who you feel most comfortable with.  In my area, there aren't alot of options so I went with the surgeon that my PCP recommended.  Maybe your regular doctor has an opinion.

Good luck!

I would suggest attending support group meetings at each of them and asking questions on peoples experiences and going from there. You should be able to attend a support group meeting or 2 at each prior to surgery and this may prove to help alot as you try to decide. If you still find they are all very similar, I'd go with the one closest to you.
