weight loss slowing down

Good Morning everybody!!

I haven't posted in a while but I do come in a 2-3 times aweek and read the posts. Lots of new people here now, that's great!! Welcome Everybody!! this is a great site and it helped me tremendously in the beginning.

So I am now 4 months out. Surgery for me was 1/17/11. I have lost a total of 51 lbs since my surgery. I am losing weight at a slower rate now. I have to get back into the swing of things. This month I haven't made it to the gym as much as I would have liked. My kids are very involved in sports and since my husband is legally blind I am the only driver in the family. So my exercise has been lacking. Also last week I came down with a terrible cold though that helped me to lose 2 lbs cause all I did was drink cold water to help my scratchy throat, I don't think I have ever drank 6-8 bottles of water like I did for 2 days straight last week. I guess now I know why they say drink, drink, drink.

As I have mentioned before even though I haven't lost as much weight as most people have in the same time frame I have lost so many inches of my body. I lost 51 lbs but it looks like so much more. I started at a size 24. I am now at a size 14. YAY!!!!

When I do work out (which I will get back to this week, I have to find rides for my kids activities) I jog at the treadmill. It felt so good to start running again, I have never been a fan of running. I used to be in the Navy and I never cared for running then either. But when you become physically unable to do it because of your size, it feels wonderful to be able to do it again its a great accomplishment and I always push myself to run atleast 30 seconds longer than the last time. I do intervals, Walk 5 min  incline 5  min run 5 min. This works for me very well. I also do the weight circuit  which I honestly believe is what has helped me loose all the inches of my body. The cardio helps me loose the weight, treadmill, bikes, elliptical. But the weights takes the inches off.

So those of you that have started this journey. Don't feel discouraged at what you believe is a slow weight loss. It will come. But remember that you also have to work at it. Exercise along with this surgery is a MUST!!. You have to watch what you eat, drink, drink drink and exercise, exercise, exercise.( When I am on track I go to the gym every other day for about 2 hours).)

WOOOO HOOOOOO lady! You are doing awesome! Take one piece of adivce tho, the longer you stay away from exercise and the basics of wls, the harder it is to get back to it, so don't delay! I let things get away from me while in my first semester at college, and now I am having to work extra hard to be discip[lined,...heck even semi disciplined! But I am improving once again.

You are kicking butyt! good for you!

P.S. I can relate to being the only one to do all the driving...and everything else for that matter. My hubby is totally blind. Not even light perception. Not so fun for us either..Hang in there!

Thanks Patrece,

You are right its very hard to get back into the swing of things but I must say I am determined!!.  I am going a nephews wedding in August and the inlaws none of them (all in Canada or out of state) has not seen me yet, I have always been the fat one in all the pics (hated that) I am out to WOW them all in a bright knock out dress. So with any luck from now until August I am really hoping I can lose another 20 lbs! So I have a motivator !!

Hope school is going good for you!

And yes its very hard with a handicapped hubby, I do feel your pain. However I am in a better situation as my husband is not totaly blind and he does all the house work, laundry, cleaning, cooking etc. Although every year that goes by his sight is less and one eye he can't see at all. But it makes him feel good that he can still do some things.

You go girl! You can do it. Perhaps you need to focus on doing a 3 day de-carb. That helps break the carb cycle, cravings, etc. From the look of your avatar you are already a knock out! Look at you...such a beautiful woman!

My hubby has the job of keeping up with the dishes and kitchen each day, which isn't much with just us , but I am lucky if he does it twice a week. His only other jobs are brushing and feeding the dogs and vacuuming the furniture (dog hair), which he does a suprisingly excellent job of, if and when he bothers to do it. Unfortunately he doesn't have much drive to d the few things he can.

I am on break from school right now. I ended the semester with A's and a recognition from the arts and sciences department for outstanding acedemic achievement in my English composition class. I was very proud of that, since I have been out of school for 22 years!

Keep us posted on how your weight loss goes. I know you can do it!

Thanks for the update. I agree, love the new pic. Getting off the beaten path for wls is easy. Just do your best to carve out personal time for yourself. Your family needs you to be there for them. A healthy you that is.

We all notice that weight loss slows, you have the answers, increase fluids, increase activity, increase protein. Most of all, reduce stress when you can. Hugs

Thanks Kathy,

I am trying very hard for some me time! It's a hard task let me tell you. But I know that I need it, and crave it and soon I will have to let the family know atleast one weekend its going to be all about me (besides mothers day that is, lol)

You always have kind words and it helps to motivate, Thank you,
