Hiya Hiya!
Hi everyone :) My name is Chelsey, and I'm new to the group. As of today, I am 2 weeks out from my RNY. So far, I'm down 23 lbs from the date of surgery and have made it through an infection of the largest incision site. Will admit to being frustrated by the limitations on exercise being walking only, but I do understand completely why it is this way. Am up to being able to putter about most of the day doing things, but when I am worn out, I am worn out! Tend to crash out like a toddler needing nap time LOL
I started out at 319 at my consult, after three weeks of the pre-op diet, was down to 313 on my surgery date. Now, it's nice to be dropping weight quickly, but I also know when I've done things I shouldn't. Tried tuna fish the other day, and it nearly killed me! Going to stick with my protein shakes, beefaroni, soups, fruit in juice, and puddings for a while, as any more solid food hurts. Did do some chili the other day as well, and that wasn't bad. Have noticed that 4 spoonfuls has me stuffed to the gills!
As I'm 5'11.5", my goal weight is (personally) 195ish :) Hopefully, by next summer, I will be at that weight and have had the plastic procedures I know I will need already done too. At least I have insurance that paid for the surgery at 100% and will do the same for the plastics as well :)

Welcome to our group and congrats on your surgery! Just one question... did your surgeon say to eat beefaroni? Usually we are to avoid noodles and carbs and processed foods, as well as fruit juices (cuz they are loaded with sugar) especially this early out. It is typical to only eat that tiny amount. It can help to take smaller bites and chew longer. Don't let yourself eat until you feel stuffed, just until satisfied. Don't want to damage the new pouch.
It is awesome that you have such excellent insurance coverage! Many of us wish ours would cover plastics. It nice to have you join us, and best of luck to you in this journey! Ask any questions you may have!

Thanks Patrece :)
My surgeon said it was ok for me to eat the beefaroni, as it's a high protein variety made with soy noodles. Probably should have said that :)
Thanks for the eating advice! I've continued to notice that just a bite or two has me full. Even with water, soup, or shakes, it takes forever to finish them. Not a bad thing, just difficult to adjust to when I'm trying to make sure I keep up on my 64oz of water daily and the 60 grams of protein. Feel as though I am constantly 'eating' or drinking something.

Ahhh I didn't know they made a high protein variety with soy noodles...hummmm... may check out the label next time I go shopping .
The balance of eating and drinking will get better as you get further out and more experienced. It is hard to do at first, but it won't be long until you get better adjusted. It took me a month or two then I hang the hang of it all pretty good.
You are welcome! Ask anything you may need to and we'll do our best to help.
