Hello to Arianne

Hi,
Arianne is such a wonderful name. My friend's daughter has the same name. It's beautiful.
I am a retired NICU nurse. I usually don't admit to being an RN, but I'll make an expectation just this once.  I worked it for 20 years. It was wonderful and rewarding but also stressful. It's a young nurse's field. Us oldies but goodies (Friends my age) are all retired now but one. She is calling it quits soon.   Take care and post soon.    Mag

Hi Mag,
Just have to say as the mother of a preemie who weighed 1# 11oz when he arrived over the 12 weeks weeks eary, in my opinion you NICU nurses ares the best in the house they have u to thank for their lives. Our nurses ruled and we will be forever grateful to them , my son is on the Deans list for the 3rd year and is in his college marching band.

Michelle-
I have to agree with Mag, it is so encouraging to hear the great success that your son has had.  I love my job and am passionate about it.  But it can be heartbreaking as well.  I am looking forward to getting to know you all and the encouragement and words of wisdom you can share with me.

Hey Mag-

Thanks about the name...but I didn't pick it...haha...it is a Johnny Mathis song that my mom liked.  I don't mind the name, but there are a huge percentage of the general population that can't seem to say it right...so I answer to most anything...haha!

I love my job and my colleagues, but you are right it is a highly stressful job.  The good days are really good and the bad days can be really bad...but after almost 12 years I still love coming to work and doing what I do.

I look forward to getting to know you better and gleaning any words of wisdom and encouragement that I can!  Take care and have a great week!

I also work night shift from 7p-7a...just finishing up night number 4 of 5 then 9 nights off!  Working night shift in the NICU, but have also worked Labor and Delivery as a second job.  It is good to find someone that also understands the 12hr night shift deal!  Hope you are having a great week!

Arianne
