I will be starting my liquid diet on May 24th for 14days.  I'm concerned about low blood sugar.  Any diabetic have problems with this and what did they do?

I am not a diabetic so this isn't from personal experience. I belong to several WLS groups on the web and I have never read anything about the liquid diet being off limits for diabetics.  Your best bet is to contact the nutritionist and see what he/she has to say.

Good luck!

Thanks for your reply.  I see your name is donsharleygirl.  My husband has a fat boy and had a sissy bar put on the back but i have only been on a few times.  I feel with my weight I will set him off kilter.  So I can't wait till my surg (June 6th) and I lose weight so I can ride with him again.

I am also diabetic.  My pcp and I worked out an adjustment in my medications for the time before surgery.  I am blessed to be off insulin (last dose was the day before surgery).  My oral diabetes meds are a lot less that before surgery.

You will be consuming less calories with the liquid diet, balance medications and activity.  If you feel any signs of low blood sugar, have a plan prepared with your pcp.

I do not know what if any meds that you take, but this can be worked out.  Just communicate with medical staff, both pcp and surgeon's office.  You will do great!
