Hi There:

My name is Kimberly but my friends call me Miss K. I am scheduled to have WLS in July of this year. It was suggested in my PreOp class that we connect with others who have already gone through WLS for support.  I must say I am very nervous about the procedure but need it never the less.  If anyone out there is willing to help talk me through this it would be greatly appreciated.  I have read some of your discussions and find them very encouraging.  I hope to be able to connect with some of you real soon because July is just around the corner.  Thanks........K

Looking towards a better tomorrow.

Hi Miss K,
It's nice to meet you. Welcome to our group. It's the weekend and things are slower because people have so much to do. Hopefully others will post tomorrow. We have a Monday Evening chat. 7PM Eastern time and 4PM Pacific time. It's a great way to get to know the people here. We are here to talk, listen, share, and encourage. Good luck on your weight loss journey. OH will be here for you the entire way. I love this site and our BB group. I hope you find the same helpful information and encouragement that I have received. Keep postings.     Mag

Welcome to the group Miss K.  I too was steered toward OH during my pre op time.  I also attend a local wls support group.  Found the right fit right here with the bariatric buddy group.  Such a right fit that I took the leader training and share the group with Patrece.  We take turns filling in for each other.  Patrece has been busy with college the last few weeks.  Looking forward to more posts from her when she can.

I had RNY about 19 months ago, loving the loss, still working on getting to my goal.  This is not easy, very hard work.  We are each and everyone of us worth the effort.  Do what you can during this time before your surgery to start the healthy habits that will be your life after surgery.

Start to practice eating slowly, putting the fork or spoon down between bites.  Separate drinking fluids from your meals by 30 minutes before and after.  In all honesty I had the hardest time with this before surgery, much easier after surgery, there simply isn't room for fluids in your pouch with solid foods.

Get into the habit of exercise, walking is a wonderful kind of exercise.  If your body can not take long peroids of activity, start slowly, just a trip down the hall, around the block.

Come and post questions, concerns, needs we will do our best to share from experience.  One of the other posters mentioned chat sessions.  I send out a reminder for these chat sessions each monday, with the times and a shortcut to getting into the chat area.  Looking forward to caring and sharing with you and all the other new members.  Hugs
