Bariatric Buddy
What was I thinking?
Hey everybody.
It's been a bit since I've written in, mainly because I have been so sick that I didn't even have the energy to type. This all stems from my plastic surgery. I'm am now sorry I had it done; or at least the breast implants. One of them is not properly in place and the only way to fix it is to go under the knife again which I am not willing to do at this point.
The main problem is the after effects of the surgery. As I have written about previously, they found a problem when they started the abdominoplasty from my hernia repair and had to fix that first. They pumped me full of antibiotics and I ended up with a systemic yeast infection that manifested as thrush. My sense of taste, smell and texture in my mouth got all screwed up and I couldn't eat. Everything I put in my mouth tasted like it was spoiled or rotten; even water tasted weird. This went on for a month, not knowing what the problem was. I had an appointment with my PCP on Friday who diagnosed it immediately and gave me a prescription. Thank the good Lord that the drugs are working because my senses are returning to normal. I have been unable to turn the corner with this recuperation because I haven't been able to eat anything and have had no strength or energy. I'm finally able to get down a little food, it tastes okay and my strength should start picking up a little bit. Going without food for almost a month almost did me in.
But for the first time since surgery and the kidney failure I feel like I'm starting to come out of it. I'm going to take it easy, keep trying to eat (although I'm not too concerned about "healthy" eating at the moment) and hopefully come out the other side here very shortly. My hubby has been terrific through all of this but did remind me I had to hurry up and get better because it's almost bike season. This will be our last year on a traditional bike. Next fall when the riding season is over the bike will get taken down to the dealership we do business with in OH and be converted to a three wheeler. I'm always a little nervous on the bike. Hubby wants to go to California and I told him only after the bike is converted.
I hope everyone had a good holiday. We didn't do anything; my husband had to work and it was just me and my mom. If I have the energy, I think I'll do an Easter dinner sometime this week.
Well that's it for me for now. Have a great day folks!
Colleen
