Miralax

Ok so this is another poop topic.  I am a nurse so i may get a little too descriptive.  Pardon me if it gets gross.. but I know we have some fellow nurses in the group.

I have been feeling bloated lately.  I guess it started since I took the antibiotics and got diarhhea for the entire 3 days.  Anyways I decided to take miralx this week despite the fact that I have been going everyday.  I just felt like I need to go more.  My question is this: is it ok to take it everyday or every other day just to keep going?  I am gonna buy me some colace tablets next week when I get paid.

My bowel habits after surgery have been pretty regular and I have only had to take the miralx twice since surgery.  I have noticed that my poop is smaller in diameter and alot longer.  It looks soft in the toilet (not hard and cracked).  But I do struggle with it coming out a bit.  So question: can I be backed up even though I am passing these long a$$ snake like turds?

I think that I am finally beginning to feel somewhat empty.. LOL...  taking another shot of miralax tonight. I dont want to make it a habit of taking it so often.  I like being able to go naturally.  but I dont want to get as backed up again.  Is colace the alternative?

my drs office said i could take miralax or colace and i have a similar problem. doesnt want out. and YES the colace helps but i buy the generic and it says on it it could take 12 ti 48 hours to work or something like that. i dont use it everyday but i use it when i need it and it helps. i couldnt down a shot of that other stuff and my daughter has the powder form of it. and its still gross and bitter. at walmart the generic colace was 4 bucks here. not sure what it wuold be there

No topic is off limits.  I find that I do not get inough fiber from the limited fruits and veggies that I can consume since surgery.  Consider trying benefiber or the generic equivelent.  Mixes into water, crystal light, can't even tell it is in there.  Helped keep things a moving, use the mirilax when you need, just take enough liquids with the fiber.  World of difference.  You may notice bloating and more gas with starting the fiber, work up to a dose that works for you.  I mix mine with crystal light.  This fiber doesn't get gloppy like some brands do.  Colace is a good softener.  Work with consulting your MD for dosing if questions.  Hugs
