Surgery Tomorrow

Tomorrow is my surgery. I am excited about my weight loss but, nervous about the pain of the surgery. I'm having lap band surgery. I have to spend the night in the hospital because of my sleep apnea. A lot of my husband and my entertainment has been going out to eat and traveling. So, I guess going out to eat will change. I would like some ideas about going out to eat after surgery. Thanks for your help.

Hi Nancy, I hope your surgery goes (or went) well. I hope your post-op pain is less than expected. Wishing you well. I'm not a lap band so I can't help you about eating out. I'm sure others will.   Mag

Congrats on making it through the pre op process Nancy.  Welcoming you to the loser's bench ahead of your surgery.  May your healing be uneventful.

I did not go out to eat much during the initial months after surgery.  I do go out occassionally now.  Look over the menu, choose something that is healthy, will not irritate your pouch and ask for a to go box to be brought with your meal, or split a meal with your hubby.  I used to be afraid of asking for the box, but having most of the excess food removed from my plate allows me to leisurely enjoy the things I do have.  Start focussing on your husband or the scenery and enjoy the companionship.

I had RNY, but have read up on the band some too.  You will be able to eat normal foods in just a short amount of time, just focus on the quality protein and avoid things that your tool does not tolerate.  Happy losing.  Hugs

Thanks for your support. The pain wasn't as bad as I thought. I'm back at home and plan to go back to work Monday.  I am excited about my new adventure.
