I am new to the site.  I am planning on have the VSG in December.  My insurance will not pay.  I have to wait until December because I had a heart stint in October and can't get off the Plavix for at least one year.  I am a teacher at a local catholic high school.  I have had no success in dieting since my 30s.  I am 59 years old.  Any support is appreciated.  I am scared about the surgery and any aftereffects that I may not be aware of, but I really want to lose weight and this seems to be my last hope. BYW, my current weight is 233 lbs.

Welcome to the group, you will find support in this journey.  Take this one step at a time, the stent was needed.  Hope you are doing well at this time.

I am so glad that I made the decision to have surgery.  VSG was not an option where I had surgery, at the time I was approved.   I had RNY, for my health, this was the best for me.  Work with your surgical team to get to your goal.

Any specific questions we can address?  Try to attend monday eve chat sessions if you can.  Lots of good information is shared between those that attend.  Come share with us when you can, read many, many posts.  Hugs

Thanks for the quick reply.  It seems that I am obsessing over the surgery.  I did little to nothing yesterday, but look for information.  I am trying to diet, did well last week, but ordered a pizza last night.  My children are against the surgery, which is my main struggle today.  Thanks for listening.

WELCOME! happy to have you here. Sorry to hear about the insurance, its awful, I have a friend who is going through the same thing, and she just aches over the insurance. Dedication is a tool that will help you along and we will support you any way we can. AS you get closer to your surgery, your fears will transform to excitement. Your doing the right steps with getting your heart taken care of and waiting. Just think, you will be starting a new life that your heart will thank you for :)
