i appeared to be strong when he saw me and i thought i was til i had this surgery i was in excruiating pain for one week. he had told me basically no restrictions after the first week. i went grocery shopping, plus i live on the 3rd floor and had to go up and down the steps but i did not carry the groceries up . i had nearly reached the point of being pain free and well thats over. one big stretch of my stomach hurts. its not cramping anymore from the stomach muscle contracting. it is tight. ive been using ice and it helps a little. i dont want to cry or anything but it hurts more than it did before and i am wondering if i pulled or strained a recovering muscle how long i will be in pain and if anyone has ever done this. good news i did sleep longer last night but was on the couch most of the night.

Hi Sara, I had a spot on my left side, lower than the incision, closer to my waist, that hurt on and off for a few weeks.  They do the most stretching of tissues on that incision to get the surgery done.  I just thought, funny the pain is not where the incision is.  It does get better, plus, I like you, did a little too much a couple of times.

Listen to your body, take tylenol for discomfort.  I also had trouble sleeping for the first few weeks.  Seemed like i was up and about at least a couple of times at night.  Just listen to what your body says it needs.  Hugs

if it still hurts tomrrow should i call and verfiy with the nurse anything? that is exactly where my pain is with occasionally pain on the right side. ice was helping. i am really tired today. also need some meds adjusted because of the new pouch. i am very grateful that you replied. what did it feel like - the pain? its hard to describe. a tightness basically is what it feels like but it used to burn before it moved to this location

Kind of reminded me of a nagging "achy tooth" kind of pain, like I had done hundreds of situps.  It did get better with time.  Kept thinking, this pain is not in an area of incisions.  But they have to manipulate the instruments during surgery.  Do call if things aren't better.  If this is the problem, it will clear in a few days.  Use the tylenol.  I occassionally needed something stronger near bedtime to help with this ache.

Hope the liquids are going better today Sara.  Hugs

Hi,  I had the same pain where Kathy described. My doctor told me it was where some stitches were located and would hurt for a while.  Increased pain when I tried to lie down.   Mag
