home from the hospital
i didnt plan on writing much. i am still in a lot of pain but i am getting stronger and slowly stayig awake longer. my surgeon is great and he made me feel so relaxed about the surgery. everything wasnt bad except the pain - when they woke me up in the operating room i felt like a semi truck a laying on top of me. and they wouldnt let me take my bipolar medications until the day after surgery even tho they had told me i could. so now i have to see psych again because i couldt stop crying becaue my meds were wearing off and so much was going on. luckily none of it was really about the surgery. i am happy i had it done but the pain is not something i can deal with w/o th emeds. had my first portion of protein drinks. i am still tired. hoping that if ryan keeps this new job he has that his mom will help me with gabby because i cant even give her a bathor shower at this point. at least its not hurting to breathe anymore but i am so tender. hubby is taking good care of me and they did send me home with a drain. i have 5 or 6 incisions but they are rellly small.
just wanted to let everyone know i am home and doing well. tired and been getting up around 3 am. not weighing until next tuesday and connection isnt strong enough to upload any pics. my presurgery weight was 280 the day before surgery which is 79 lbs lost

Welcome to the losing side of surgery Sara. Knew you were a winner and would make it to this day
Take frequent deep breaths, walk short walks often and sip, sip, sip. Alternate with a nap as needed. Congrats on the successful losing before surgery. I see great things for you. Take this healing one day at a time. Each day gets better and better. Hugs for healing.

Hey, Sara, I'm so proud of you. Your pre-op weight loss is awesome. I'm bi-polar also and cried in the hospital. I was so shocked that missing 2 days of meds could do that. But by the time I left the hospital I was fine. Don't you just love meds? Somewhat teasing there, but i wonder where I would be w/out them. Let us know how you are doing post-op as you get more healing every day. Mag
what upset me was that no one told me ahead of time. they just said i would get my meds after surgery. so i thought the same day not the next day. i am sore and tired and have am still showing a gain of 8 lbs. this is the first time i have stepped onot the scale but i am very bloated today and on my period. these incisions hurt and i am almost out of pain meds. i know what u mean about how important psych meds are. they did give me a crazy shot and schedule me with bariatric's psychology for friday.
i dont understand how i can feel fine sometimes and awful other times. the liquid doesnt want to go down, im trying though. i dont what to get dehydrated again. and my shoulder/neck hurts from sleeping i guess.

I showed a weight gain for quite a while post-op. It was difficult. I was retaining fluid which my doctor said happens to everyone because of the amount of IV fluids people get during surgery and their hospital stay. I was only down 9 pounds at my first appointment and then 7 to 10 days later I was down 20 pounds which made me feel great.
Your shoulder/neck pain can be from the air they put into your body to move things out of the way. The best way to get rid of it is walking. That's your job right now. Sip, sip, sip, and walk walk, walk. Even short distances around the house really helps. Take care Mag

Hello Sara,
So glad you finally had surgery. All you are going through now is temporary. You will feel better as each day passes by, but you really need to walk, walk, walk even if it in circles at home (that's what I did).
Congratulations and don't feel discouraged all will turn out well and you are already ahead of the game you lost 79 lbs before surgery. GOOD JOB!!
