I am supposed to loose 25 lbs. before my Dr. will give me a surgery date.  I am having a problem with loosing the weight.  Can anyone give me some advise as to how they did it.  I can barely lose 20 and that's if I'm starving myself.  I don't want to fail at this because I feel this is my only option in getting my medical problems under control.

Any advise from anyone would be helpful.

Michelle, you can do this.  Keep yourself busy, do not have idle time on your hands, and food to nibble on nearby.  Do what you can to start exercising, even walking up and down the hall at home.  Drink a large glass of water before you eat something.

If you find yourself nibbling when you watch TV, find something else to do.  Have low calorie foods at home.  Clean the cupboards of contraband foods.  Sugar free popsicles help when you simply want to chew and need something low calorie.

What foods are you eating?  Maybe we can brainstorm ideas.

Put yourself on a low carb (<100g), high protein (80-100g) diet like you will be on after surgery.  This will do 2 things: 1st it will get your body used to not having simple carbs and 2nd it will help u lose those 20 pounds.  Also start drinking 64+ oz of water a day.  Exercise is a must.

I agree with KATHY, get rid of all the JUNK.  If you must have something, limit to once a week.  But do not keep it in the house. Make it as inconvenient to get to as you possibly can.

I wish you all the best success.

All I can say is I so agree... get the "junk" out of the house. if it isn't there you can't eat it..  Everytime you think you HAVE to eat drink first if your still hungry after 8oz of water then eat. if you have to snack... have celery, cucumbers, carrots... I know it is easier said than done and if it was easy no one would need surgery.  just remember to stay focused. try to replace one meal a day with a protein shake.   Protein intake is the key.

Good Luck!
