Tried a new recipe this evening.
I was searching recipes online the other day. Printed off a couple that sounded interesting. Trying new foods. The first one was for fennel, now I have never tried fennel. The recipe was for roasting it in the oven. Looked just like the picture with the recipe. But the taste did not agree with me. Tossed the batch and put the recipe in the recycling box.
Tonight, tried a baked squash, apple and cranberry recipe. Yes, no protein content in this, but I did pair it up with baked chicken breast. The recipe called for butternut squash, peeled and sliced. Top this with sliced apples and fresh or frozen cranberries. I did not have cranberries in the house, but did have craisins. The rest of the recipe was adapted to make is wls friendly. Substituted brown sugar with splenda brown sugar, used small bits of margarine and a sprinkling of nutmeg over the top of this dish. Covered with foil and baked at 350 for about 50 minutes. Tasted like a mixture of sweet squash/apple pie filling. I warmed a little up for a snack just a few minutes ago. Also warms well. Dennis turned his nose up at the thought of the combination. Good thing I liked it. I have at least 3-4 more servings in the fridge. I used about half of the quantities called for in the recipe, knowing that I would not have help eating this dish.
Not sure on the nutritional stats, but squash and apples are nutritious. Have a great weekend everyone. Hugs

I'm with you on the fennel, Kathy. Blech!!! The squash recipe sounded good, though. I just got a sample of unflavored whey protein. I'm going to use it in a recipe to see if I can stomach it. I'm below my goal weight right now and truthfully, I'm starting to get a little concerned that I'm still losing. I had a two day episode of vomitting, maybe it was a flu bug or tomatoe sauce that set it off. I buy those little single serve Spaghetti O's, Beefaroni, etc., because they are quick, easy and have about 8 gm of protein each which is pretty good for something quick. I don't pay much attention to sugars (I don't experience dumping) although I do try and stick with fruit and juices and don't count calories or fat grams although I do keep an eye on refined sugars and the resulting carbs.
I think someone started a recipe exchange thread here at Bariatric Buddies and I'm going to check it out. I've tried a couple of recipes from "the world according to eggface" but didn't care much for them.
Please let us know if you find anything else tasty.
