home from surgery
Hello, Had my RNY on Friday 3/4 and came home from the hospital last night. I had quite a few adhesions from prior abdominal surgeries that had to be removed also, so I am a bit sore but other than that don't feel too bad. On Saturday I could not get down more than one ounce of the clear liquid diet at a time but by yesterday I was taking 3 ounces of the protein shake at each meal. It takes me about 45 mins to get the 3 ounces down but thats better than nothing! I was also able to get about 320 ounces of water in yesterday which was a huge improvement to the day before, so today my goal is to double the water intake. The main problem the 1st 2 days was the feeling that I had to burp, the second I took a small sip of anything. That is starting to ease up thank goodness. Since today is day 3 I have to start my chewable vitamins today and am back on my regular meds so will have to space them out all day long. Can also try cream of wheat today so I'm going to add some Beneprotein to it and see how it goes. I was weighed prior to surgery and had lost 27 pounds which was a pleasant surprise. My family is very supportive but when I get excited about taking in 3 ounces I don't think they quite get it so thanks for listening!!

Welcome home. Glad the surgery went well and you are home now. Now comes the fun part. Learning to listen to your pouch. It is just like a woman.. sends "mixed signals" and from day to day it changes its mind.. LOL.. (Just a little humor here). Remember to walk! WALK! and do more walking. It will help with that gasy, burpy feeling
Welcome home from surgery Michelle, let the losing begin. Just checking on your volume stated, 320 oz or ml. My goal is 64 oz plus of fluids a day, anything more is a bonus. The burpy feeling will resolve with improvement in your bowel function. Short frequent walks keep the gas moving along your system.
Hope that things are improving for you as these days slip on by. Hugs
